Personally I like to mix game formats and buyins quite a lot. In pokerstars 30$+ limits table selection becomes mandatory and wider selection gives more freedom for it. My style has really never been to play just one buyin level. E.g. these days I could play 200$ games from bankroll view, but in reality I am playing games from 15$ to 100$. Smaller swings and nice profit with decent volume.

For low salary/cost countries living with poker is not that big challenge in long run. But living off is not only important factor. One thing to remember with poker is that there will be no adding to retirement moneys. So for longer period one should have some sort of goals and backup plans. E.g. how one will use poker profits? Investment plans? Plans if poker is not an option for some reason after couple years?

Personally I have been quite lazy volume wise. Goal is to hit 300k vpp this year which will be done. Just have to put bigger goal for next year :)

But yeah for me it has always been easier to play poker with some longer period volume goal in mind.

Thank you for this great response. I absolutely agree with everything you said including extra money, back up plans and investments.

Good news for me is that I can always get USA visa, go there and teach in schools perform get like 3k$+ a month and live decent life. I can also do that in other countries in the world with my music CV.
Another thing that I can do is play on cruise ships but there you make 1.6k euro a month and maximum that you are away a year is 10 months so not really a lot of money there tbh.
As far as investments go, I have in my mind 200k in next 5 years (40k per year) and I plan to pay off credit for my parents 70 square meter apartment (15k euro left) , record my 1st instrumental jazz album (3k euro) , open up a caffee place in my town for quality live music (4k-6k), invest in teaching and coaching , get a car + life things (travel, enjoying life, seeing places etc). So it doesn't take too much money but its important like you said to have long term goal , for me its to do all those things but its important to keep immediate goals and short terms one in check (working on a game daily, doing reviews, fixing leaks, finding edge vs every opponent, keeping grinding as serious as possible, improve mental game more - very big thing, reach 150k SN, have enough money to play on my own from January etc).

104 games so far, 2nd session bunch of setups (tons of shoves running into top of the range BVB, BTN vs blinds, CO vs blinds, 3 bet shoving from blinds vs BTN etc). I did make some mistakes of course, main ones calling a bit wide on the river but that is mental game issue like everything with me. When I am in the zone I play great, when I start to doubt the plays I tend to be either overly agressive or too passive. I have to find a way to balance my strategy as this is definitely bringing BE results overall perhaps 2-3% roi which for next year I am not going to be cool with.
Good news is that I am close to 50k VPPs for this year since June 10th. This month I gathered 14.467.15 VPPs so far (another session coming up). I will do my best to get to those 22- 23k target VPPs for this month by playing every day until the end of the month with 1K goal each day.
On the side note, I also started reviewing my play by looking at each tournament individually. It takes hell of a lot of time but it gets my mind thinking about edges constantly as I do it.
Final thing, I noticed that couple off regs started going crazy against me, 3 betting me all the time and calling my 4 bets with A10o+, 77 and stuff like that (some called me with 33 SB vs BTN) which is (if you ask me) insane and stupid to build that kind of dynamic on 15s Stars but whatever. It starts to remind me now of Ongame. I kept stacking off with JJ+, AQ+ , ahead of their ranges and they still were shopping big time.
Onto do short review and continue another 50 or so games before hitting the bed.
Enjoy the weekend and have productive sessions if you are grinding !

Update before going to bed!

Today I played 2 sessions and started both quite late (after 9pm). Was 15 tabling in both sessions instead of 12 simply to play 100+ games. Ended both of the sessions with total of 106 games, results were very good also (running above EV ) but most importantly I did something different.
Many times I mentioned that my biggest problem is mental game. I can grind million games a day but my focus will go off, some regular will tilt me, I will start spewing pre or post flop etc. This is my biggest enemy and I have to deal with it ASAP if I want to have better maintainable roi.
I have learned a lot of things, am positive that I am better then 95% regulars playing this limit , yet I find myself making some stupid things on the tables - totally unacceptable regardless of pressure for number of games 150k other goals in life.
So what did I do today? I took piece of paper, wrote down things that I know I have most problems with and where I spew the most. I wrote it by hand made it personal, there were 7 things that I put down and only then started playing. As soon I started those 7 things were ringing in my head so much, every time I was faced with a decision I remembered what I wrote. On paper there were 7 statements (problems) followed by solution for each of them.
Needless to say I felt much better about my game and was much more ITM (regardless of upswing)

Here is the graph for 2 sessions !

EV ROI 11.3%

Tomorrow/today will be interesting day. I skipped gym past week, I must make it in the morning, after that I gotta start grinding 2 sessions at least then prepare some stuff for the girl that will come over :)

Have all good night

VPP count : 50.146.85

Yes, perhaps you can send me in the message your email or skype , I will forward the message there. Maybe your community tool is bugging out for some reason, maybe they blocked your message function for some reason.

Thanks for the response.

I think I might have a go on Ipoker and/or microgaming to start, as volume is not too much of an issue as I am happy to grind 4/6 tables at a lower stake whist I perfect my craft.

What skin do you recommend, can you get first deposit bonus's on different sites on the same network?

Should I be looking for best rakeback or not worry if a site doesn't have a rakeback scheme as it will have a VIP programme of sorts? I guess I should look to deposit the max to get the best of the new sign up deals, although not sure I would be able to clear much with the volume I would play

Oh yes as an after thought I should go to a site that allows a HUD, as again I have one, I have it on ..... sometimes, but need to learn how to use it.

Thanks again for the help.

Regards

Steve

Sorry Ivicaliev77 for posting about on your great blog!
=============
Hi 177272

Am not sure how well the regular STTs at iPoker run I think the main tournament traffic there is weighted towards HUSNG, Double or Nothing, jackpot donkaments and MTTs.

I have also played on MPN but the HM2 hud still is not functioning there. I hear PT4 should work but I am not sure. Lil better traffick there on normal SNGs compared to iPoker..

(disclaimer. I have not been looking about in iPoker how fast the normal SNGs fill nowadays as I am just grinding the DoNs. There could be increase after the new structures and new addition like the shorstack supers etc.)

Sent you friend request incase you wanna chat on skype about iPoker SNGs. Bonuses etc.

Cheers
xxIxx

Yes poker wise quiet
I had this girl come over yesterday, we translated one poker video from Spanish to Serbian and drank beer in between :) After that she went to change invited another sexy friend and we headed downtown for some more drinks. Got back home around 3:30 am and now starting to function.
Today is friends birthday , going to restaurant at 5pm so I guess no poker today as well (I will refrain from drinking today). Also my friend from Leskovac came over she is in Nis until thursday so I have to find time meet up with her and my friend from Boston is arriving today to Nis so I guess there will be more days without or very little poker :)

Regarding your questions about MG or Ipoker as well as hud... There is lots more traffic on Microgaming but you can't get as good deal as Ipoker. I am not sure which limits you plan to play, if its 5$+ then you can go straight to Ipoker as there is trafic to play 100+ a day mixing 5s and 11s 6 max turbos (we have 2 students playing there and know this from experience). Microgaming is good solution if you play 1.10 2.75 euro mixing you can get there 100 games easy a day, problem is if you don't plan to grind much then you might not take full advantage there (FDB, site race, max the VIP system). So I guess my advice if you want to play less games is Ipoker because you can get flat deal there and is better one then on microgaming, if you plan to grind 100 a day or 75+ , then go to microgaming you will get more value (more fishes, tons of traffic, ok promotions etc). Hope that helps!

P.S. HUD works on microgaming with Poker tracker (not sure which version, some of the updates they did messed it up) and for Ipoker you can use HM1 or 2 doesn't matter it works.

Time for some reality check and facing the facts.

This month I have slacked with volume a lot mainly because of life related things that came up (again birthdays celebrations friends coming to my town and girls obviously). 4 days left to play in this month (including today) and I have 15.4k VPPs with yearly 50.146k VPP count. This means that next 4 months I have to make 24-25k VPPs steady no excuses. If is doable but it will definitely take some sacrifice on my side like cutting out time with girls, saying to friends no more in that period and not missing on my good habits.
Past 10 days I have attended gym only once (this monday) and I know notice that my energy levels are way below what I want them to be, my lifestyle is suffering so I have to get back on that asap.
In terms of results at the tables, there has been improvement since I switched to 12 tabling on 12th of August , I have about 1706 games and 4.6% total roi (for 15s 5.2%). So I guess that's better than BE but the point is I still have mental game issue and start making mistakes which cost me to be BE in the long run going to some crazy C-D game of mine. I wrote down on paper 7 things, it worked great in my last session (wrote about that already) will keep using that as mental trigger to prepare me for my A-B game as much as possible.

See you at the tables and have fun !

Nice first session , running above EV again and EV is at 12.8% which is nice... I think Demonic is on Stars , have to check his nick soon
By the end of the day will try to play 50+ games more at least, perhaps 100 +.
