That a bit on the low side! :f_biggrin:
Makes me feel better as I haven't picked up my guitar much recently. 30 minutes here and there. How much did you practise during Berklee?

During and before Berklee I was on average 8 hours involved with practicing and music in general. There were periods with 12+ hours and those were great ones no doubt :)
Now I am getting back into it and repertoire I will play for the tour would require more electric approach with effects so I will step it up even further :)

Giving up on poker never crossed my mind cause I had coach that was making good money and I was sure that if he could do it so could I. As I progressed I saw what other guys here and there are making money, how they are making it, started looking and comparing all different sites, formats, where would what money be enough.

Finally landed on fact that moving to Poker Stars was best thing ever for me. Traffic on other networks is dead for 6 max sngs for levels 10$/euro+ and even on 5$/euro there is now only traffic on Ipoker and Full Tilt , the rest is gone.

Always have backup plan - for me that's my initial career something I can always land on, doing music performing teaching , I can always survive with it one way or the other.
Playing poker is a choice cause I will reach my monetary goals faster and as I improve and increase my multi tabling more and more, I will eventually reach a point where I am playing 50-60 hours a month , treating poker as part time job but making really good money in the process which leaves me all this extra time for other life activities which was the whole point when playing poker - freedom it brings you !

Cheers for the reply dude, you know I meant no offence and as I said I am sure you have it all in control. You always give a lot of info that others never would and it helps so many people all good for the Karma IMHO :)

That's a lot. Some of these metal shredders must put in a lot of hours every day. It's very dedicated.
I'm impressed by some of the chicks playing on youtube. Some hot asian chicks shredding away lol. Honest, I only watch them for the playing! :P

I would like to dedicate this update to some of the things happening with my students. Sharing all this with you might help some of you that have doubts where to play and traffic concerns.

Lets start with Curly , guy that cleared his make up last month and is in profit over that around 300 euro currently (finished 2nd also in SNG challenge in February!).
Curly has to rake 1k euro by the end of the month and to do that he will play HU hypers 2.75 euro limit, 4000 games. In February he has improved a lot by working hard and 10 hours of coaching I provided helped also I hope
He has started playing those HU hypers, played over 700 of them in February and made money pre RB there with 1-2% ROI. Really nice result considering that rake is 10% per game which is suicidal for HU Hypers. But regardles of that , competition is super soft and Curly is crushing them on Microgaming now.
I have spoken to him, we did various calculations for different sites and formats and landed on the following : If Curly manages to play that volume 4000 games this month, we will stay on Microgaming and he will exclusively switch to HU Hypers on Microgaming and play 5000 those a month with emphasis on 5.5 limit!
The reasons for choosing this option are several: 1) Curly's game is good enough to be at least BE for 2.75 and 5.5 2) Opponents are not difficult on average to beat 3) We got great RB deal 4) Curly has limited time to grind cause of his daily job 5) With limited grind time hypers are ideal and he can make 2k$ already on 5.50 euro limit
I very much look forward to Curly's volume and results in March. They will show how he deals with hypers grinding them 100 hours a month 2 tabling. We will continue having sessions twice a week and he will keep coming on Sundays and/or Saturdays to poker office to grind and study with me my brother and my best friend.

Shile is 6 max player that reached 11 euro limit. He has improved a lot last month, finally started working more on pre and post flop lines, developing his thinking process further. His ICM is very solid, one of the best from all the guys I coached so far. His HU play has space for improvement but he improved a lot in February and has already good idea how to exploit what opponent type.
The thing with Shile is he usually grinds in the morning. Microgaming is officially dead now for 5.5 traffic and I was thinking past weeks where to move Shile. Ipoker is ok but for 5$/euro limit, after that there is no perspective. Full Tilt poker also has 5$ traffic but for 10$ is a joke already. Shile can multitable 8+ tables and can easily get 80 games a day.
Shile also takes out every month money for life expenses which put him instantly in make up.
I have done some comparison calculations yesterday with Variancekiller (thanks for helping me out man with FTP!!!) and have come to the conclusion that it would be best for Shile to switch to Poker Stars!
So today Shile is officially coming back to Poker Stars!
I believe he can easily get 4% ROI pre RB there and with right volume and that ROI get 1.2-1.3k $ post RB. His game is already good enough to be solid winner on 7s + there is minimum 3 fishes per table there, bunch of bad/weak regs and he can really take advantage of crushing there.
What we will aim for and goals that I set with him are now:
1) Reaching Platinum every month (minimum 7500 VPPs)
2) Grinding 3k games a month on 7$ 6 max turbos
3) Twice a week session (1 sweat 1 HH review)
4) For him to send me hands frequently over skype + HH with thinking process
5) To start with 6 tabling, increase to 8 to 10 soon after that (new software, will need time to get used to the speed of it)
6) I will give him list of regs that he will table select to earn even more money :)

Really looking forward to Shile's move to Poker Stars and how everything will go. Since we have 10 months to reach SN, we will see what to do as year gets close to finish. Shile could in theory reach SN even on 7s but I want to see how his mental game will be like when run bad starts on Stars, when he goes down 40-60 buy ins, will he start to play super aggro crazy spew shove -ev etc. All that stuff happened a while back on Microgaming and in the meanwhile he has overcome his DS and covered over 1.5k euro of loss so he definitely has mental strength to survive Stars.
For money needed, I will provide Shile every month amount he needs but to keep that amount going he has to follow the goals we set together now. Failing to meet those goals wil results into dropping that amount significantly.
Good luck Shile and go crush them all on Stars!

Bjorne my German student has started playing 7s on Stars already! After 10 sessions since he started working with me, he is there now super psyched and surprised how he is exploiting them :) We did sweat 2 days ago and I was seeing 3 fishes per table , some crazy aggro regs and also recognized one reg from Microgaming that used to play with whole our stable (Darwinnian). I believe without a single doubt that Bjorne will be profitable on 7s. The only thing he needs to do is step it up with volume and his SN chase will become reality. With current volume that is not possible , he may have to move to 15s later in the year to make up the missed volume. As far as our sessions go, now we will focus on live sweat and HH review. In live sweat I can spot immediate leaks if there are some. With HH I will look for common leaks that burn money and later focus on very specific things.

Regarding my brother, best friend and Nikolas. They are all on Microgaming still. Since none of them are heavy grinders yet, Microgaming is still the best option because of RB, FDB and SNG Challenge. On Stars they won't be able to reach Platinum level playing 1.5$ nor 3.5$ 6 max , not to mention that rake for 1.5$ 6 max stars is over 10% which is worse compared to Microgaming where its fixed 10%.
So for time being my best friend will stay on 1.10 euro limit to clear his FDB, after that he will be ready to start mixing 1.10 and 2.75. My brother can easily play 2.75 50-60 games a day, needs to continue to work on his game and he can then start mixing 2.75 and 5.50 which would bring him nice rake , nice pre rb winnings and better money then if he played 3.5$ on Stars. Nikolas is in similar spot like my brother except he is not grinding too much so switching him to Stars is definitely not a good option. When he improves his game, he can mix 1.10 2.75 and 5.50 on Microgaming to make some nice cash.

All these guys I will switch to Stars once they are ready to beat 5.50 Microgaming pre RB cause that's essentially what 7$ limit on Stars is with opponents + are ready to play between 70-100 games a day on average (2-3k monthly volume) .
Unless something unpredictable happens (like traffic kicking back by some miracle on Microgaming) future for all my students is Poker Stars.

Hope all of you that were interested and read this got something interesting from it all!

I got today 3 sessions, first two are with Shile and Bjorne where in both I will get to see them play 7s on Stars! 3rd session is with my best friend and we will look into marked hands for post flop where he wrote down his thinking process and questions!

Yesterday I played only 1 short session cause my friend from Belgrade is here and went to hang with him drink some beers
After a while I played 1 30$ 6 max tournament. There was Elio Oneiro and PercoPF both 15$ regs in them. I ended up in HU vs aggro fish and won it.
I would really like to switch to 30s as they are easier then 15s right now with way less aggro regs there. Unfortunately my roll is not sufficient yet to do so, so I will keep playing 15s tons and coaching and staking my 6 people. 30s will have to wait for now - I will switch to them with 9k roll exclusively before that don't plan to mix them with 15s at all!

Some plans for today
3 coaching sessions
100 games (3 hours of grind)
In the evening relax (ex or ps3)
Schedule in the meanwhile Niska Banja spa center
Work on 2 tunes I got for summer tour (30 minutes minimum)

Enjoy your day on and off the tables!

None offense taken, I know you mean well Steve :)
I am firm believer in stuff like if you can't be good person better don't speak then to be bad person - if that makes any sense
Not really religious type but Karma seems to work its wonders in life ;)

I am not sure if PS has some 45 90 man coach here, would be nice to check.
Whats happening with your Cash vs SNG dilemma? Have you made your mind where to go ?

I hear you on Asian girls. Dedicated sexy Asian girl is as hot as it gets - especially if she can kick my ass in guitar playing then its like where do I sign up to marry her

I just watched Colins beating the 180's P1 video. Good video. I like his style. His book was excellent as well. He is good at explaining things in an easy to understand way.
I think it's got to be SNG. I played a couple of thousand hands at nl10 zoom last week, and it's really tight. Not much different than 25 or 50. I think it's just played for RB by the regs. Tight stats, 4 to 8 tables. Not managed to find any of them on sharkscope! Although mbnl beating higher stakes has me puzzled. Maximum respect for that. I like the multi table SNGs as there are so many fish.
I'm considering contacting Team Moshman about coaching. Get them to set me a plan for 6 or 8 tabling for $1,000 a month, and coaching me on it.

Sounds good, I like the way you are thinking!

I can tell you from calculations I did, you need 3k games on 7$ 6 max with 4% ROI and with Platinum VIP status on Stars you will get 1.2k$ on average.

If you are looking to have 1k left for you then you need to make minimum 2k cause most coaching and staking deals are 50/50. Not sure what Collins thing is but you can get that info by contacting them. Some people told me they were offered 60/40 but 60% for coach and staker.
In general unless you are proven winner on SNGs, you will have difficulty finding good deal for coaching and staking.

Guys I am coaching (and staking now) worked with me for 1 year already. They started as total SNG beginners, and in 1st year they didn't make much money at all.
I am just sharing with you reality and my experience with students.

In the end it all depends on following factors:
1) Your current knowledge/ability
2) How hard are you willing to work/your study and grind habits
3) How often do you have coaching sessions
4) Does coach you have provide you security to solve the leaks in your game
5) Is whole coaching and staking deal really worth long term (what are your expectations and what is realistic expectations)

All I am saying is think about it.
7$ 6 max stars for some people is nuts limit, for some its super easy, some are struggling on the verge to make some money.
15$ limit on stars is now more difficult then 30s cause all the aggro regs are on 15s grinding games while 30s have bunch of unknowns, weak regs (tight/passive) and some good players of course.
3k$ a month is possible on 15$ limit with 3k games and 4% ROI with SN RB.

Think about it and do it hard before making any decision!

GL my friend :)

Great info thanks.
I was just going to pay for coaching, rather than a deal. The coach I had before was an ex Moshman coach. He said I was a winning player, and that I just had to work on volume. I wish he'd told the villains I'm a winning player lol! Volume is a problem unless I move to Asia, as I have too many chores here etc. My plan was to become a good player, them put the volume in later. With hindsight, it was a flawed plan. Just now I'm only playing a few hours every 2nd day or so. 45 man, 2 turbos, and 2 - 6 normal speed. I like the sound of that $7 - 6 max on platinum, but my 6 or 8 table max, would probably take 10 hours a day. That was why I had been looking at zoom, as it's easier to fit around other things, as you can fit in an hour here and there, between other stuff. mbnl, seems to have a nice balance of a couple of hours at a time.

I am laughing and crying at the same time - awesome stuff man

Coaching for hourly is great option but if you lack motivation to grind and work then its better to have long term deal cause coach will push you to work and grind.

I am a bit confused regarding the game type. Will you play 45 man, 9 , 6 max , 180s or zoom ? :)
I like the idea of zoom for long term going to Nl200 and stuff. For those other formats you can make the money you want for sure, all of them have possibility of 1-2k $ a month.
Whatever you choose you will be fine!

So some things to write about that have been going on lately.
I will start with my brother, best friend and students and move onto some random stuff!

Brother
Despite Microgaming traffic dying on 6 max turbos, he is doing really good job grinding those games on 2.75. We did session recently, looked through the marked hands and moved onto bubble review. Spotted leaks and he got the assignments to work on. We also worked on HU and he is slowly improving in that area also.
What's really good is that despite running way under EV, he is starting to play much better and get good results.
I predict another 2 months of grinding and studying tops until he starts to earn 1k euro per month. In future we may have to move to 7s Stars but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Best friend
Still improving at fast pace, fixing his leaks, showing great interest and taking huge initiative to do things on his own. He is grinding 3 tables 1.10 euro Microgaming but traffic is terrible so plan is to clear that FDB as soon as his game is ready he will mix with 2.75 and be able to play 3-4 tables always. His biggest leak is post flop but his ICM , late game bubble and HU are very good for total beginner. When we fix his post flop he will be ready to crush much higher stakes. Good thing about Microgaming switch is there is about 3-4 regs that mix everything from 1.10 to 11s 6 max and they actually will push quality of game for both my brother and best friend.
Once they both move back to Stars, they will be able to crush way weaker regs and of course 3+ fishes per table!

Curly
He is continuing to do really good in March also. After awesome February where we had about 10 coaching sessions, he worked on his game sending me hand history frequently grinding both 6 max and HU hypers and now he is just crushing.
So far he has played 1682 tournaments on 2.75 hu hypers with 56.5% ITM.
Our goal is once he clears current FDB with some new theory and math concepts covering in future sessions to start grinding 4-5k a month 5.50 euro HU hypers.
If traffic fails to happen for them (which I doubt very much cause people always play them) we have 2nd option which is moving to 6 max 7$ on Stars. Field is super soft , Curly's HU game is better then 95% of opponents there that's for sure and he can easily have minimum 5% ROI on them.
The reason why we choose hypers is limited time Curly has + ability to make more money on Microgaming HU hypers vs Stars 6 max 7$ limit.
Will write more about this when Curly clears bonus by the end of the month!

Shile
He switched to Stars couple of days ago and we had 2 sweat sessions. I gave him couple of regs to avoid and to apply some table selecting. Within 1st week or so he will play 6 tables to get back in the game with faster software. After that increasing to 8,10 will happen. Results so far are great but sample is 100+ games with avg profit of 1.21$ per game.
He might not catch Platinum in the 1st month but I want him not too loose money by mass multitabling and chasing silly status for now. As he increases tables he will be grinding way more games and we can talk about SN as we see how things develop.
So for March he will try to play 2.7k games but from April on he will definitely be grinding Platinum status minimum.

Nikolas
He is not grinding enough on 2.75 Microgaming but is improving with his knowledge. His mental game has also lots of space for improvement.
Our deal is suppose to finish in June this year (from previous program or February next year with our new fresh start) but we might finish it earlier. We had really long talk the other day and I told him that with this pace of studying and such a low volume he will not be able to make a living from poker in next year or two minimum. I don't mind him having sessions and grinding whatever but bottom line is that he is not taking advantage of what I am providing him here. He is also winning player, he is not in any make up, on contrary he is in profit. The problem is with this pace it will take him forever to start making decent money after 50/50 split to make a living from poker!
I see 2 solutions now with him : 1) Finish our work right away and he can continue playing on his own recreational way 2) We drop number of sessions to some fair amount per mount considering he doesn't grind even 50 games a day now and find good balance to keep working together.
He has really improved in February doing all the assignments from sessions but consistent grind has been problem with him in the past also. On top of everything he went to doctor recently and was told to decrease his stress in life cause it has caused some health problems.
He is really good guy and I wouldn't like ending our arrangement. Business wise there is both sides of coin but personally I want to stick with him and help him out as much as I can.
Next week we will have another talk and come upon final agreement. Look forward to resolving things and setting them straight so that we can move on with new goals - regardless of what they will end up being !

Bjorne
My student from Germany started grinding Stars and is running 20 buy ins bellow EV in 150 games (should be 100$ in profit but is 50$ in losses instead). We have done both sweat and HH sessions lately and found late game leaks. Look forward to our future sessions to see if those leaks reappear or not!
As far as volume goes, Bjorne is still not grinding enough so SN is a bit far with this pace (unless we switch to 15s soon).
Will wait for whole March and April, see what happens with grind studying and results and then make decision with him. His mental game seems to be good, tactical game is definitely now strong enough to crush 7s (within 10 sessions we set it all up!) and now I have no worries nor doubt for him!

My own grind
I have played about 400+ tournaments 17 tabling in March. I am loosing money but had 2 sessions where I just had tons of setups and I am still running bellow EV about 20 buy ins :) I am not worried about it at all, will play another 1.6k tournaments by the end of the month minimum like I set them, results and card distribution will hopefully follow. I need about 700 games to clear this 100k FPP bonus which will boost my roll nicely and make life easier ;)
I played yesterday some HU NL50 on stars and some 7s and 15s HU hypers. Just testing the waters for myself and Curly. I think they are profitable to play but I am not ready to give up on my 6 max sngs until I am absolutely sure I can make close to same $ on other format. I will keep on grinding 6 max 15s for now, build roll but in the meanwhile study some more HU and get maybe even coaching for it when/if I decide to switch to them.

PS3 + PES2013
This week I played PES2013 (new one sucks!) with my brother best friend and very good friend from Belgrade Djole. We played 2 vs 2 and it was just awesome. 1st time I lost with Djole every single game but one where we drew. On Thursday we meet up again, changed some tactic (applied Newcastle tactic to all our teams) and started crushing like crazy. There was a 7-x game for us with Fiorentina and couple games with 4,5 goals where we scored.
Really had awesome time those two nights, look forward to going to Belgrade and hanging out with Djole playing some football manager or NBA2014 :)

Rest of the stuff
Spending time with family - check. Seeing ex frequently - check. Watching JSL (Jelen Super League - Serbian football) games - check. Watching EPL - check. Going out for drinks with friends and hanging out - check. Watching tons of TV shows and new movies - check.

Things that I need to work on and improve
My fitness, eating habits and get back into guitar grind.
Fitness is going ok but could be going better of course. I will very soon switch to 20 minutes cycling daily. Healthy eating need to work a lot on that stuff! Guitar grind is directly influenced with all the coaching I do and real life stuff. Once all the guys become way more independent (more like Curly now) then I can do way less sessions and put that time for guitar. In the meanwhile I would have to sacrifice my family friends and ex gf time for guitar which I don't won't to drop out cause it makes me feel great.

Hope your March is going great and enjoy your time on and off the tables!

That's a good point about having a coach to push me.

Game type - I started at 18s , then went for 90 man as there are a lot more fish than the 6 max and 9s , which can be reg fests. But traffic for 90's is quiet at the times I play. So I went for 45 man as there are more options. I liked Katie Doziers point that 45s are a similar structure to live daily tournies , so it's a good format to master. But I don't think I can fit the volume in.
Zoom - I like zoom as it's easier for me to multi table. I have a minimum 100bb every hand, and don't need to watch for when the antes kick in ( like when your stack halves at 200/50ante) , stack tension, icm etc. And the huge factor that you can start n stop a session so easily. But the only nl25 / nl50 winners I have read about are just winning at about 1.5bb/100. It's not great.
I should finish my latest teaching English course this week, and start putting in more volume.

Pozdrav!!!

Pozdrav,

Hi Bode,

As this is English community, it's mandatory to speak in English despite you were tired :)

Ivica, Bode is my good friend, he's new to the forums so he doesn't know all rules yet, just please reply to him in English, he speaks it well, but he's lazy. :)

Bode, from now on only English please _evil:

Cheers,

Hello!

Super blog, congratulations on perseverance and mental strength. If I lost 300 buyin probably would not have played poker ever ...

I currently play on PokerStars $ 3.5 9max turbo and I'm doing well ... if I go on like this should go on 7$ buyin until the end of the month ... I mix little zoom 0.5-0.10 and usual full ring cash on which I am also in a good profit. .I've tried to play the knockout turbo but it is not going so good like turbos an I am interested in your opinion. I am busy so I can not have a large volume and can not be active on the forum like I should ... otherwise I started a blog so you can see it if you have time.

I'd like to hear you over skype with you so we can discuss hands and to hear some advice about mental strenght if you have time.

cheers,

Reading all this, I suggest ZOOM or HU. Both games are awesome simply cause they have huge sealing for $, you can start and stop anytime you want and there is tons of value in years to come for sure!

Hello Bode,

I am glad you are following blog and doing great yourself with poker!
Loosing money in poker will make you or brake you. Guys who brake end up finding excuses for their failure, guys who continue after DS have stronger mental game and odds to make the living with poker.

I checked your blog, so far results look excellent on your limits. We can talk on skype, I will send you friend request via community tool now and my skype id in the message.

I will try to find time to chat over skype with you but I am also pressed for time with coaching other guys and doing my own thing. We will talk that's for sure. I chat with Fran frequently and he is a great guy, since you come with good recommendations from him, I will be happy to help you out.

See you on skype soon!
