Hi all,

Small intro:
I used to play a lot in the past (6-7y ago) and played pretty much everything. NLH, SNG, MMT, Hyper heads-up,... but stopped for several reasons.
1) I tilted heavely from time to time making me throw any rules out of the window and utterly destroy my bankroll in the process
2) really didnt have time to play because of real life obligations

So started again this week with a bankroll of 200$
In the past I had the most succes with NLH, but I like MTT`s more, so thats what I`m playing.

Reason for the blog is fairly simple:
1) control the tilt, because if I do I`ll have to explain it here :f_rolleyes:
2) it has been a long time and I just notice that some hands I`m really playing without a plan. So will post from time to time and hopefully get some good input
3) its just a nice way to keep track of where I have been

For clarity I will not be following a strickt regime with books and other life goals, already have enough of that going on. Just want to play something I enjoy and hopefully improve along the way.

Goals in life besides poker (but that wont be updated in this blog):
- I`m starting my own company this year, so currently in preperation fase
- get back to my pre corona workout regime of 3 times a week
- Find a women _cool:

First update will come today.
If you have any questions or suggestions, shoot.

Update 1:
starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 185$
MTT played: 12
ITM: 0

Although the bankroll isnt going in the right direction, I`m happy with how I started.
If I`m process oriented and not outcome, I can say I played well, was able to build up nice stacks in several MTT`s, played agressive but controlled, had several good runs, was the bubble in a sattelite,...

If I keep playing like this the cashouts will follow (i hope) :f_biggrin:

Some hands: (outcome and my vision is hidden so you can make up your own mind first)

1) Pretty deep in tournament. About 10 places left till ITM.
Didnt have a lot of info on player yet, except I had seen him do some questionable shoves and calls. K7os kinda thing (but on a small sample size)

Yatahay Network - 2400/4800 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 7 players

BTN: 30.22 BB
Hero (SB): 19.02 BB

UTG: 74.52 BB
UTG+1: 9.78 BB
MP: 19.8 BB
CO: 51.83 BB

7 players post ante of 0.1 BB, Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.2 BB) Hero has J:club: A:club:

fold, fold, fold, CO raises to 2 BB, fold, Hero raises to 18.92 BB and is all-in, fold, CO calls 16.92 BB

Flop: (39.55 BB, 2 players) 7:heart: 9:spade: 3:spade:

Turn: (39.55 BB, 2 players) 8:spade:

River: (39.55 BB, 2 players) J:diamond:

Spoiler

Hero shows J:club: A:club: (One Pair, Jacks)
(Pre 65%, Flop 71%, Turn 64%)
CO shows T:spade: K:diamond: (Straight, Jack High)
(Pre 35%, Flop 29%, Turn 36%)
CO wins 39.55 BB

Considering the guy had done some strange pushes and calls I didnt want to play this hand oop against him.
Thought his range was really wide and assumed he might call me with worse.
So decided to go all in considering I was less then 20bb deep

2) late game in MT SnG
I`m chipleader at this point (with only 20bb for some reason).

Yatahay Network - 3000/6000 NL - Holdem - 6 players

CO shows A:club: Q:diamond: (Two Pair, Aces and Kings)
(Pre 30%, Flop 95%, Turn 98%)
CO wins 31.2 BB

Actually considering laying the hand down for a second because I didnt want to cripple my stack.
I know, what a fishy thought.
After some thinking I put his range pretty wide there. ok AA en KK are possible, but a lot of other pockets, AK -A10s,..
So made the call

3) Still early in tournament, no specific reads

Yatahay Network - 50/100 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.1 BB) Hero has A:heart: K:club:

Turn: (397.1 BB, 2 players) 6:diamond:

River: (397.1 BB, 2 players) A:diamond:

Spoiler

BB shows 3:spade: 3:heart: (Full House, Threes full of Aces)
(Pre 53%, Flop 98%, Turn 100%)
Hero shows A:heart: K:club: (Three of a Kind, Aces)
(Pre 47%, Flop 2%, Turn 0%)
BB wins 397.1 BB

The only reason why I called here is because it is micro stackes and you see really strange shoves with just draws and stuff.
But I think in hindsight its a bad call. 200BB is a lot to put in the middle with just one pair.
Or what do you think?

4) no reads, mid game of tournament

Yatahay Network - 250/500 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 8 players

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.38 BB) Hero has 3:spade: 3:diamond:

UTG raises to 2 BB, fold, MP calls 2 BB, Hero calls 2 BB, fold, fold, fold, BB calls 1 BB

Flop: (9.38 BB, 4 players) 5:spade: K:spade: 3:club:
BB checks, UTG checks, MP bets 5.16 BB, Hero calls 5.16 BB, BB calls 5.16 BB, fold

Turn: (24.86 BB, 3 players) K:heart:
BB checks, MP bets 13.67 BB, Hero calls 13.67 BB, fold

River: (52.21 BB, 2 players) K:club:
MP bets 11.82 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 11.82 BB

Spoiler

MP shows A:heart: K:diamond: (Four of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 47%, Flop 3%, Turn 16%)
Hero shows 3:spade: 3:diamond: (Full House, Kings full of Threes)
(Pre 53%, Flop 97%, Turn 84%)
MP wins 75.84 BB

Made the call for the following reaons:
1) 60+ BB in the middle and only 11 to call
2) put him on a K, but with 3 on the board it the possibility of a bluff just seemed plausible although unlikely.

Would you have laid this down?

No hero call hands to post, because most times I picked up the pot before showdown or just had a really good hand.

1 and 2: Standard.
3: Fold without strong maniac reads
4: Its fine to just call flop having two people behind. Otherwise I would always x-r flop. Just x-r turn though. River is really awkward with those pot odds. I doubt villain is bluffing often enough.

Thx for the imput, agree with your assessment.
Maybe because I havent played for so long, but nothing feels really standard anymore...

Update 2:
starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 178$
MTT played: 23
ITM: 1
Final tables: 1

Dispite getting to a final table I`m still down. Finished 6th out of 170,
So cant complain. Had a little tilt moment in my other tournaments after getting out of this one.
Was second in chips, with 3 players who had <5bb, so things were looking really good.
But they all 3 doubled up against the big stack and before you know it I was last in chips.
Did loads of blind steals with not much to show for it.
Had to shove in the end with J3os because I was below 4 BB and BB woke up with AJs.

K now that I`m done crying, here are some hands I`m not sure about:

1) Lets start with the most questionable one
some extra information. final table and SB has been verry tight.
over sample of nearly 100 hands he has a VPIP of 8 and a preflop raise of 0

Yatahay Network - 20000/40000 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 13.83 BB
SB: 10.56 BB
Hero (BB): 12.71 BB
UTG: 6.15 BB
MP: 29.49 BB
CO: 10.26 BB

6 players post ante of 0.1 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.1 BB) Hero has 3:spade: 3:club:

UTG raises to 6.05 BB and is all-in, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold

UTG wins 3.1 BB

Spoiler

Just shows how out of tune I am. Considering I only have about 10BB behind I think its a call.
Just didnt see much he would push where I would do good against.

2) Like a fish on land
First of opening raise should have been bigger on my part.
But then on the flop I have just no clue.
On both players I had notes the call Kx or Qx from blinds,

Yatahay Network - 5500/11000 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 7 players

UTG+1: 18.47 BB
MP: 5.34 BB
Hero (CO): 28.38 BB
BTN: 12.52 BB
SB: 22.82 BB
BB: 38.12 BB

7 players post ante of 0.1 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.2 BB) Hero has J:spade: J:diamond:

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2 BB, fold, SB calls 1.5 BB, BB calls 1 BB

Flop: (6.7 BB, 3 players) Q:spade: K:heart: 3:club:
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (6.7 BB, 3 players) 4:spade:
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

River: (6.7 BB, 3 players) K:spade:
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

Spoiler

Hero shows J:spade: J:diamond: (Two Pair, Kings and Jacks)
(Pre 64%, Flop 89%, Turn 95%)
SB shows 2:diamond: 2:heart: (Two Pair, Kings and Twos)
(Pre 18%, Flop 9%, Turn 5%)
BB shows 9:diamond: 8:diamond: (One Pair, Kings)
(Pre 18%, Flop 3%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins 6.7 BB

my thought during the hand was:
1) they are not going to fold any K or Q there
2) anything else will just fold against a bet so I just basicly isolate against better if I bet.

Only way to make some more out of it ( if they dont have K or Q) is to check behind and let one of them fire at it.
So if they had put a bet in, I would have called.

short update before going to sleep

Update 3:
starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 165$
MTT played: 42
ITM: 5
Final tables: 1

Had couple decent runs, but nothing deep enough for serieus payouts.
at some point luck just said no and lost just about every draw. (as you can see at the end of the graph)

p.s: probably doing something wrong, but cant get the picture to come straight into the reply

Hey Anraxas,

You need to use the image tags and use a link that ends in a file extension like .jpg, .bmp, .png.

The easiest way is to drag and drop your image directly into your post. This uploads a copy to our cloud storage which means your image will never disappear if you were to edit or delete the original.

I play anything between 1$ and 3$ buy-in with an occasional 4-5$ tournament. But most 1-3$

Update 3:

I would like to start by thanking the gods of poker for giving me the opportunity to practice my anti-tilt skills :f_drink:

starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 180$
MTT played: 55
ITM: 9
Final tables: 1

I continued on the same path as yesterday. running nicely below EV but got to late stage in 2 tournaments (I`m still in one right now but wanted to vent some frustration)

Was really happy with how I`m playing. Did some nice calls, loads of steal or resteals, graph below shows wins and you can see it perfectly follows Ev because 99% was just steals.

In the end I went out with A8 < A3 else would have been top 10 with 30 some players left.
On the other hand i shouldn`t complain considering I1m actually getting deep several times while only playing again for a couple of day`s, but still

While make a more positive post when last tournament is done with some hands.

edit 1min later: out of last tournament KK<88. Raise - reraises. he calls out of position with a potsize we are both committed and flops the set....

fold, fold, MP raises to 2 BB, fold, CO calls 2 BB, fold, Hero raises to 8 BB, BB calls 7 BB, fold, CO raises to 35.07 BB, Hero ?

at these stakes a lot of strange plays can be made, so I find i hard to lay down JJ here, but then again he does show a lot of strenght.
Would put him on AA/KK/AK but thats about it.
Rest of hand + my action is in spoiler.

Update 4:

Had my first positive session :f_biggrin:, nowhere near the big money, closest I got was 54th out of +6k field.
But was only good for 15$ payout.

starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 165$
MTT played: 75
ITM: 17
Final tables: 1

Graph of today:
Ran really well tilll the first crash. Just couldnt win anything anymore and went out of most tournaments in like the next 15min.
Right before the second arrow my pocket KK held out in a 4way pot so had nice stack in one tournament. and I won a flip and lost an all in flip. blinds got really high and only had like 10 left so. shove citie

Overal graph till now of buy-ins

Tagged a lot of hands in this session but have no clue what kind of hands you guys want to see if any.
Brags, beats, strange hands... or should I just use this blog to update my BR from time to time :f_cool:

Are you asking what kind of hands to post in the hand discussion forums?
If so, the best hands to post are those hands where you came to a spot where you didn't know what to do.

Brags are cool too.
Strange hands can go in https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=190428&goto=firstnew

Yeah, if it was a misclick he would have won under the "misclick equity" clause of the variance rules

Update 5:
starting bankroll: 200$
ending bankroll: 147$
MTT played: 109
Final tables: 1

Removed the ITM counter, because that really doesn`t matter and I want to stay focused on shipping a tournament and not just getting ITM.

Besides some coolers I`m pretty happy with how I played (one really fish move after a bad beat, really need to work on this).
But besides that, got deep in several tournament just the key flips didnt go my way. but have faith that if I keep playing like this, it will come.
