Mrsjb felt ill tonight, and went to bed at about 9pm. After appropriate amounts of sympathising this allowed me to play 800 hands of 5CD ♦ . BR now stands at $360. I feel like I'm making some progress. Calling with weaker two pair instead of raising has helped. I can now call with a few flush draws to balance my range for calling and discarding one.

I also shared a table with two of my friends. First, briefly, with Huricano, who's a Polish Pokerstrategist, and then, for somewhat longer, Idolatrous, who is Canadian, and my top contender for the title of 'World's Biggest Arsehole' (although David Cameron could give him a good run for his money). Every time we play at the same table he tells me how much of a fish I am and how badly he's running. Apparently 27K hands of 5CD (which is how many I've played now) is not enough to tell whether you're a winning player, and that when I start to run bad ( ) he's going to 'felt' me. At least I think that's what he said. I hope it wasn't 'feel' or 'felch'. I explained to him that the variance in 5CD is much lower than that in holdem, and he lololololed at me. Apparently 'running bad' is nothing to do with variance. I gave up at this point. He really does seem to think I'm a retard. Oh well. Never mind. I'm off to check that mrsjb is still breathing. Goodnight all.

Just heard this on the radio for the first time in years. I remember seeing this on Top of the Pops. How weird is this song, particularly considering it's from 1975. He can't even be bothered to pretend to mime to it half the time. I like it!

Just back from a morning of ferrying the kids around left, right and centre. Went to get my hair cut, and bugger me, Top of the Pops 2 was on the TV, and it was 70's hit after 70's hit. The urge to post lots of Slade and Queen and Jimi Hendrix videos is strong, but I will resist. The barber took the edge off my enjoyment by cutting off my hair and switching it for grey stuff before it even hit my lap. Bastard.

Here's a hand from last night that has preyed on my mind. The BTN is a huge lagtard and SB is a sensible reg as far as I know.

i) Should I be 3 betting predraw with AAxxx? I think flatting is fine as they both have weak ranges, but then again, hand values don't change much postdraw, so perhaps a raise is in order?

ii) Postdraw, call or fold? BTN always, always bets according to his stats, so I snap call if SB folds. SB draws three and just flats, so I'm probably good right?

I think it's for sure worth a call. I think BTN can be easily betting with air hoping you both missed and have some weak one pair hands that will be folded or is valuebetting worse, like KKxxx or QQxxx. SB's just call doesn't seem to me like he has you beat either and gives you even better pot odds to make the call.

I forgot you're Mr Mixed games. Have you played much 5CD? And what about preflop? 3bet?

I've played couple of tournaments and i think even HU sngs, obv some cgs too. I prefer 72 though

I'd for sure 3bet for value pre since button is probably stealing with any five and our hand is far ahead of that range. SB would also probably 3bet with better than we have (and only hands that beat us atm are 2pair+, he's def 3betting that against a lagtard) and also because trapping makes no sense in a 2 street limit game. So we are ahead of both of them and i dont think either of them will be folding for just one more bet.
