If you keep it on for the rest of the year, you'll have the best blog around here.

Hope we'll follow each other to the highest Zoom stakes! :f_thumbsup:

The plan for tonight was beer and a film with mrsjb. The beer went well, but we watched Cowboys and Aliens, of which we only managed to watch about half because it was a bit shit, even though it had Daniel Craig in it, and he took his top off, which made mrsjb very happy, fml. Unfortunately she was feeling a bit ill, so she went to bed. I wanted to play poker, but the beers, the beers. As a compromise, I resolved to try to convert some of my $T into real $ by playing $1.50 HUSNGs. Oh dear. People are so bad. The graph below includes five in a row against what I can only imagine was a very tilted young Russian.

Tomorrow, swimming with the kids! Weeeeeeeee! :f_cry: But hopefully a decent session of Zoooooooom too. :f_love:

Carried on playing these HUSNGs this morning, and have now won 13 in a row. I am Phil Ivey, but more modest. Actually, I think I must have improved a bit since last summer. This was the shortest one (three hands) against a mad Russian. Last year, the first hand would have terrified me.

I'll try to use up my last eight $T today, and then blow my winnings on Zooooom tonight. I may even crack out my second monitor if I'm feeling extravagant.

Congrats about the 5k posts.

You the man.

The point I think I was trying to make about the flush draw hand was that if you call with a view to playing it passively, you pay him off when he is ahead, but fail to max profit when you're ahead. This is - EV.

The nut flush at the micors - even on a paired board - is generally too strong to take a bluff catching line with, especially without reads.

And never discount the spaz factor.

Here's to next 5k

Yes, 66. I really was planning to fold the river. Maybe my subconscious agreed with you even though my conscious said he never check/shoves the river without the nuts. I wonder whether the rule 'bizarre line = nuts' is the one to apply here? TT has promised to write something about the hand.

I cracked off 2K hands of NL10 tonight and won 3BI. My AI EV was -3BI  I still felt I was playing OK, but did manage to suck out on AA twice . Maybe there's less to this AI EV business than meets the eye. Anyway, I can now have another go at NL25, hopefully tomorrow night.

I was disturbed by the 'running above AI EV' thing last night, so I had a look at the hands where I was above AI EV. This turns out to be rather harder in PT4 than in HEM, but it's possible under the reports tab. In the main, I just had lots of hands hold up or won flips (KK>AK, TT>AJ, AK>22, AK>KJ). There was one AKs>AA, and TPNK blind v blind where BB had AA, and I rivered a K for trips, and one bottom two BvB AI on the flop where he had the straight and I filled up on the turn (maybe those two were a bit overplayed). I just hope I can continue a bit of rungood on NL25 tonight, if only so that I can get established there again and start to get some better rakeback, which is completely shite on stars unless you get gold star. If I can stay on NL25 for the month, I'll probably get platinum star, and then the RB is much more reasonable.

Me and number one son want to see Steven Wilson really badly, but as far as I can see the only UK date is Sheperd's Bush midweek in May which is no bloody good. :f_mad: Can I urge all my readers to go and buy lots of his CDs so that he considers putting on some more dates? Please? Although I could live without seeing Nick Beggs' pigtails live.

I would probably be tempted to raise the turn here but I'm not sure it's the best play. Reason I'd raise is that there are quite a few action killing cards. A spade, a 3, a 6 and possibly a J as well. Apart from that, if he's not bluffing river, we might as well get value on the turn after he already bluffed it.

That said, what do you think is his range on the river? To me it looks like air, trips or better. Don't know if he checks flushes. Checking any made hand there doesn't make sense on his part so leaving the making sense part behind: I think he's range is rather inelastic. You said it yourself c/r on flop is usually BS. If it's not BS he probably has some sort of hand. I'm thinking good spot to shove if we are ahead of his value range. If you think he has very weak showdown value I would bet less than 1/2 pot. Maybe 1/5 pot tbh..

Like you said though, when he raises river it's probably a fold...

you want to raise this turn bet roughly 0%, maybe up to 0% and down to -5%, if you're starting to think about making yourself more balanced.

Yeah, since balance is always my main concern when exploiting other's tendencies. Ty for enlightening me!

Next time, tell me to break a leg or something. Back to NL10  4BI below AI EV this time. Couldn't win a flip if my life depended on it, and ran like shit. This really isn't a whinge, just an observation. I will grind out NL10 until I have 25BI for NL25 again.

Here are two hands that I think are exactly like lots of whinge hands that I've posted in the past. I really don't see how I can get away from either of them, so I'm posting them for reference, with results, as I'm not looking really for looking for advice or sympathy. I've already had fab telling me he was 6BI up playing the same game tonight, so that made me feel great.

1) 15 hands on villain. 13/7

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players

MP: $40.34
CO: $12.50

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

fold, MP raises to $0.75, fold, Hero raises to $2.30, fold, fold, MP calls $1.55

Flop: ($4.95, 2 players) J♥ T♣ A♠
MP checks, Hero bets $2.50, MP raises to $7.36, Hero raises to $23.42 and is all-in, MP calls $16.06

Turn: ($51.79, 2 players) 2♥

River: ($51.79, 2 players) 3♣

MP shows K♦ Q♠ (Straight, Ace High) (Pre 13%, Flop 65%, Turn 77%)
Hero mucks A♥ A♦ (Three of a Kind, Aces) (Pre 87%, Flop 35%, Turn 23%)
MP wins $49.79

2) No hands on Villain, who's not full stacked, and BB looked a bit squeezy so I called. Serves me right.

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BTN): $38.98
SB: $24.75
BB: $30.38
UTG: $21.32
MP: $41.49
CO: $26.84

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has Q♥ Q♣

UTG raises to $0.75, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.75, fold, fold

Flop: ($1.85, 2 players) K♥ 6♦ 2♦
UTG checks, Hero bets $1.20, UTG calls $1.20

Turn: ($4.25, 2 players) Q♦
UTG checks, Hero bets $3.20, UTG calls $3.20

River: ($10.65, 2 players) 8♥
UTG bets $16.17 and is all-in, Hero calls $16.17

UTG shows K♦ T♦ (Flush, King High) (Pre 33%, Flop 96%, Turn 80%)
Hero mucks Q♥ Q♣ (Three of a Kind, Queens) (Pre 67%, Flop 4%, Turn 20%)
UTG wins $41.06

EDIT: Played 350 hands of NL10. Won 3BI. I'll be back on NL25 soon I think.

I know you probably don't want any advice buttehhh... hahah. Here you go anyway!

Unknown villain with uneven stack (esp in zoom where these midstacks can easily sitout and come back with their 40 or whatever bbs) -> presumed fish until proven otherwise -> 3b for value! Thats how I do it anyways

The river overshove is actually pretty nasty. Would have been much easier to judge had you not posted what he had

I agree that flatting QQ there is FPS. As for the river, we can have another discussion like the one about the ATs hand, but we'll probably end up agreeing that there's enough random spazz that I have to call. That's what usually happens.
