Hi, I can say I understand your problems, as I've already been trough this. But don't give up, there are better things to come ♦. My doughter is 11 (almost 12, as she says). On the other hand, she asked me 1000+ times when are we going to ski, because she hasn't been skiing this year yet. Of course she won't listen to me, because, as she says, I don't know anything about skiing. This is a neverending story ;).
About the hands - that's just part of poker, don't bother. Keep playing your A game and you'll be fine. I recently had a short cold run of cards (check my blog) where I couldn't hit anything, which was not the same for my opponents. It just gave me more focus to try to find my major leaks, which I did, and I started to work on them. You know, when you're running hot, you don't even figure out that you are making mistakes.
Anyway, take care and keep on working on your game.

Thanks for the encouragement. I find that, after 5.5K hands at NL10 this year I am almost exactly break even if I include rakeback. If I could eliminate just one stupid, spewy play per 1K hands, I'd be doing well.

Only donated my stack once, with KK<AA. To keep myself from tilting, I calculated that this will happen about once every 10000 hands. It will even out once I've played about 1 million hands. No problemo.

I showed Boris my NL10 graph last night and he laughed as much as I expected, and as much as one can over Skype. He told me I:
a) Bluff to much in bad spots.
b) Don't know how to fold.

This reminds me of a story told to me by someone I used to play cricket with in the late 80's when I was a graduate student (you don't really need to understand cricket to get the point of this story). He was a really good player, and had played for Zimbabwe under 19s with Graham Hick (in case you didn't follow cricket in the 1990's, Hick ended up playing for England after scoring an avalanche of runs in domestic cricket, but never really made an impression after the West Indian fast bowlers worked out that if you bowled it fast at his throat he'd brown trouser and get out fairly quickly). Anyway, he was batting with Hick once and played a series of beautiful shots, all of which went straight to a fielder. At the end of the over the two batsmen met in the middle of the pitch for a chat, and he was expecting Hick to commiserate, with something along the lines of 'Unlucky mate!'. All he said was, 'Why did you keep hitting it at the fielders?'.
Being a good teacher/coach is all about giving advice at the correct level of detail. Hopefully TT will be able to descend to my level of idiocy when dishing out helpful tips.

Chess tomorrow.
Played chess last night. Got to this critical position against someone rated slightly higher than me. Obvious sequence is b5, Nb8, Qxa7, then probably Rd3 or maybe g5. He gets a pawn, I get some compensation. He bottled it and played Nh2.
Eventually the rooks came off down the open file and we agreed a draw when he was a bit short of time. Tbh, I should have played on, but I find that my concentration starts to waver after about two hours when I've spent the day at work, followed by a brief assault from the kids before chess. Same story with poker really. At least we won the match.
