Stars, biggest poker site on the planet.

Games at 6 max nl5 normal tables -> 0 except those with 3 or 4 10/8 nits sitting there playing umpteen tabs and pass the parcel with the blinds.

If I don't mix nl2 in I often can't get a game at all that isn't reg infested.

How the fuck can you play nl5 6 max with stats like that ffs.

On advice from someone vastly more sensible and clever than me at these things, I moved some of my roll to a secret location. I also started a challenge so we'll see if that helps keep me motivated, not that I need much these days.

In other news:
What do you mean don't to roll in it?! Wtf does that mean?! :challenge:

She did, it was a dead fish and she was in doggie heaven until I scrubbed her out in the yard later. Not sure who stank worse by the end, me or her.

I'm not having it all my own way yet at nl5. :challenge: Speed games are very often multiway and generally weak/tight/passive; basically everybody calls...and calls...and calls... It seems everybody is playing either speed or zoom or whatever else it's called these days so normal tables are a bit scarce for a lot of the day, which is a shame because they are much more fun and interesting. Unfortunately, so few hands an hour wont clear my fdb will it (rhetorical).
I'm making some adjustments to my game so I can play fast games better and messing up sometimes of course. Really liking the way it's going now though and I think completely differently about my game these days
The first thing I do now before even thinking about playing a hand is analyse the table. Cover the cards up, look around the table, get my bearings and then - reveal. At least that's what I'm trying to do, so I cut 4 speed to 2 and 8 normal to 6.

Wow, revelation, Mal thinks preflop!...:appl: Still spewy but less so. Postflop of course, spewy is still standard strategy.

I suppose the lesson here is think first then click, rather than click and go 'Oh fuck I didn't see that guy with 18bb - who just shoved it a your 87ss 3x open. Ye but, ye but, ye but...ye but I haz a chart! facepalm:

In other news, mrsgadget is now looking for work, as am I. It had better happen soon, we have an empty freezer for the first time in 10 years and we'll be getting 'those' letters by next month. What goes round comes round I suppose and we'll get going again, we always do. I'm good at solving these things.

I knew my vast experience of being in the shit would come in useful one day. :fuckyeah:

Look before you leap.

So this poker business is going ok; may even be able to move to nl10 soon, maybe. The br will be ok but the skill level may still be whale-like.

It really does surprise me the style differences between players of the same limit at different sites. It's taken me a while to get to grips with them but at least some of the regular types are starting to give me a little room now...or maybe they just know I'm a nit and fold everything for safety! _p:

I'm still very wobbly on my feet but I'm determined to start a bit of exercise, jogging round the pond with the dog perhaps, or cycling to town and back. I've done the latter a couple of times but I get tired very quickly these days. Maybe I'll just wait til the sun comes out here first...:mdr:

Not much chance of work round here either, unless it's in retail which I have nada experience of. Just keep plugging I guess, but it's getting a bit thin now.

Run good and try not to laugh at my stats if we meet please!

Hi Mal!
I know what you mean about the style differences.

I've found another thing though: Now that I'm home all the time, I've found that the style varies with time of day, even on the same site. I try to pick tables where there is enough action, and a decent distribution of lose and tight players. If one table gets crappy, I'll just leave. I used to just sit there and bleed blinds waiting for a chance (or worse playing crap so I didn't get bored).

Glad to hear things are looking up health-wise.
I've heard of this "exercise" thing, but it sounds like a scam.

Peace,
VS

It varies for time of day as well as day of week and poker room. On some rooms moving tables and seat selection at certain times aren't an option so you just got to go with what you have or sit out, which is my preferred move on crap tables.

Exercise is a scam VS, it's only there to get one to buy hugely overpriced trainers and go-fast striped jogging pants; neither of which make one fit by the way. Fit for fuck all after it usually.

Poker is hard work last couple of days. Lots of crap hands and crap situations for the teeny-weeniest profit ever. Profit is profit so not moaning, just a bit frustrated. Winning gets to be a habit and I suspect I'm having some entitlement tilt problems. I'll put the brake on that shit straight away.

Have a fun game, just don't bluff me, I'm not good enough. :fuckyeah:

Not that it matters in the great scheme of things, but I won't be around for a few days I expect from tomorrow, just not sure for how long; a day or two only I hope. Off to hospital to see if they can find out wtf is wrong with me. I fell over twice yesterday and can't concentrate for more than a few minutes or I get dizzy and it's getting worse again.

Obviously it's affecting my poker but more importantly it's affecting my home life. I really do not like not having control of myself but mrs gadget is being her usual rock self, bless her so I got her a chocolate Easter egg and a bottle of wine for the weekend and I'll make some cakes while she's out.

Here's a nice cover version of a Doobie Brothers song - yes I did say Doobies:

Later all, have a nice weekend.

Well I got back yesterday after having bloody needles and stuff stuck in me for a day or two. Don't ask what the 'stuff' was please, this is a family show. :f_rolleyes: They want more fkn blood than the tax man I'll say that much. Results pending and I have to go see the ENT consultant near the end of the month so we'll see what transpires.

Played a short game, won a dorrar or three then kept mrsgadget company because she was feeling understandably very nervous and hadn't slept no doubt. Watched Happy Feet cuddling on the sofa, shared a bottle of vin de supermaket and she scoffed a third Easter egg. Pleasant evening.

Still feel poorly but whatever, I can play 2 tables for now and sit out if I get a bit iffy. I need to be able to read a HUD and play at the same time anyway if I'm to progress so less tables may be sensible. Using a HUD isn't something I'm used to much and I need to be able to read one quicker than taking half my bloody timebank! :sifflote:

@vonki; thank you for the kind sentiments and I hope you're having a pleasant Easter as well.

So, a slow week ahead but hopefully an improving one all round. We'll see.

May variance be with you. :gl:

Why did I forget to click submit before closing this? :censored: Start again.

Truth is I forget things very easily lately, things I thought I knew and things I was talking about only a few minutes ago sometimes; the quicker they sort this out the better, it's becoming a fucking disaster area now. On the plus side, I think I've memorized where VPIP and PFR are on my HUD! :fuckyeah:

In other news, my dog is about 9 now and getting a bit grey around the gills, but just loving the sunshine and sitting on the lawn growling at anything that moves within a 5 mile radius.
Yes, you heard it right folks, sunshine. The weather here is just perfect at the moment so maybe I'll get a couple more photos of the area done - if I can remember to take the camera that is.

Not a lot to report pokerwise, only played a few hands since I got back but working on an increase volume over the next couple of days or so. IT still wont be like the 8 gazillion hands a day these zoom addicts cruse through, but 1K or so for now will allow me to ingest some technical stuff that I genuinely have forgotten and some I haven't learned yet. I think I'll be ok by the end of the month or somewhere around there; hopefully.

Have a sunny day.

I'd reply with something witty, but I already forgot what we're talking about.
I just got back from the Dr for the very same thing. He's sending me for blood tests.
The first symptom became really noticeable when I found myself needing to look up trivial syntax elements of a programming language I've been using for years. I suspect that the blood tests will reveal that I'm getting old.

In that regard a major event happened on the weekend. On Sunday all seemed fine, but when I woke up Monday I was a whole year older, but unfortunately no wiser. <sigh>

I totally hate sunshine -- especially when it lasts so long the lawn dries out to where I can mow it.
As it is now.
and off I go to do just that. It isn't the mowing I mind, it is the getting ready, and the putting away and cleaning up and all that stuff.

Peace and good health!

Damn I forgot to say happy birthday as well as everything else I forgot this week. :f_mad: Happy Birthday. :appl:

I just did my lawns the other day as it happens and yes, I can't stand gardening and yes I hate mowing the bloody grass and no it isn't fucking relaxing nor therapeutic!

With me it was noticing my spelling had gone tits up, but that may be in part due to typing rather than writing; it has, however, been getting worse on for some time. My handwriting used to get favourable comments from people but no longer, it looks like an 8 year old did it now and badly at that. Bloody internet. I mean, when would you write adn, thsi, teh or wuite in 'proper' writing? Just stupid.

You may well be right of course, oldness. Probably just another symptom to sit adjacent to my shouting at the weather girl on tv to stop telling me what weather we had eight hours ago.

I quite enjoy that.

Wow, so much going on I didn't realise I'd been so tardy here.

Anyhoo, that'll be nl5 owned as well then:

:fuckyeah:

Getting a coach has made the difference and getting this coach was even better. I just wish it was my idea is all, then I could brag about how clever I was, but, alas, it was not to be.

It's not just the techie stuff, having a coach means there is always big brother (or big sister) looking over your shoulder when you start tilting and spewing chips like a drunk Glaswegian. Responsibility, discipline, ownership of learning are important to, as are mindset, bankroll management etc. I call this the soft skills part of the game and they aren't an add-on but have a symbiotic relationship with our general strategy. I'm not very qualified to talk much about it though, so probably talking my usual bollox.

Oh and we haven't even started playing poker yet...

In other news, mrsgadget has an interview for another job on Monday and if that pans out we may just about be able to plough through the mud - just about; still looks like we'll need to get used to beans on toast for a while though.
I have to go to hospital on Monday for more experiments to see if I am actually human, then it's down to business and try to remember some of what I've learned - and learn some more of course. :profit:

I hope you're all doing well both in game and out.

Hey, I like beans on toast. :fuckyeah:

Well I've been ill quite a bit last few months on top of everything else that's going on and now I'm off to hospital again.

Apparently I have some sort of quite nasty and persistent virus in my head. Luckily I downloaded Norton and take it twice a day.
I haven't heard from the mighty Vorpal in a while so I hope all is well there sir?

In other news before the ambulance arrives, my coach says I'm doing ok so as long as that lasts I'll keep trying. You never know, I may even become slightly competent if I keep going.

I also had to reinstal windows and scrub my pc it was a mess. Maybe I should have partitioned the drive first, that way I wouldn't have the old windows hanging around.

Later, have a nice weekend.

So it seems my PS days are over for a while, I have had the bad news today that I can no longer afford broadband/phone etc., so this is the last of it for the foreseeable future.
Thanks to all who made my stay here so fun and I've met so many nice people it's ridiculous - you know who you are, I wont single you out.
A huge thanks to my coach who has been sooooooooo patient with an old fart who learns 3 things and forgets 2 an hour later. Things were going so well to.

VS, catch you later buddy.

I'm off to find a way to feed mrsgadget, y'all have a great day all and go crush dem nits ('cept Laz of course).

end.
