Xylere, your posts are awesome, also helped me a lot for improving my game..Thank you. I was wondering what do you play recently SSS or BSS and what is more comfortable for you and if you compare those strategies what is your opinion when is a good time to move to BSS (except of BRM of course..)
I still play NL 200-400 using SSS, but planning to start studying BSS. I`ll start with short 1-2 hours sessions per day. However, SSS proved to be solid and more or less stable income. For this reason I will keep playing mainly SSS untill opportunity cost of not playing BSS will become obviously too high.
I think the perfect point to move to BSS is when you`ve reached NL 200. At this point you will have a solid bankroll and solid skill base to start BSS. By the solid skill base I mean:
- multitabling
- equity and pot equity + software experience (pokerstove, equilator)
- the use of statistics + software experience (PT, PaHUD)
- game experience (tilt control, swing tolerance, etc)
+ you probably will have developed educational pattern. Meaning that you won`t have to make it hardway again before you realize how to use all the educational sources provided by Ps.com (importance of the hand posting, coachings, active participation, etc)
I believe that this set of skills will make your tansition to BSS very smooth and enjoyable
NICE PLAN
if you dont mind, probably i ll try to follow your plan in the future, i think is a good way...i was thinking to switch to BSS at NL50, but i also think your way is better way to move on..I am trying to do everything as you said in the "add-ons", only thing i am missing are coachings, as i have a problem as there are no coaches for FT
and i dont play on other platforms, but i think i ll move probably to some "rakeback" platform in the near future...
you don`t need to play on other platforms, just create an account with ps so you can observe the tables.
Hi xylere I was wondering if you could give me some advice as I think what you are doing here is a great just dont want to hi-jack your blog so heres my email and if its ok could you mail me so I can pick your brains!
thank xylere we mail you shortly
Finally I am here with an update)
I am playing mainly NL 200-400 cash. Took a shot on NL 600, but since I made couple of cahouts, I have to play for a while on NL 200-400 to recover my bankroll. I am quite bored with SSS, not much left here to study. So I feel like its time to put it on track. I`ll set myself a longterm goal and will play SSS untill I reach it, then I decide what to do next. So here is the list of my longterm goals for SSS:
I will be posting an update when I climb next limit and/or complete 10% of my financial goal.
- climb and beat NL 1000 (atm: NL 200)
- earn 20 000$ and cash out 5k (atm: 0% complete)
- record some videos for pokerstartegy
- write some articles for pokerstrategy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since now I have more time for poker, I decided to study different form of the game. I thought it will be BSS, but in the last moment I decided to play SnGs)
I have a 600$ roll on Party Poker, so I`ll start there playing 11$ sngs.
Here I will set myself some educational goals, but f next week. This week I will just make some preparations (software, planning, etc.)
vladnz, I messed up my database and wasn`t able to fix it till now. But i`ll post some fresh data as soon as a new sample will reach ~20k hands.
news)
I am pretty much done with sngs after a trial week) played around 200 sngs last week and very much liked it. just don`t see how they can give more opportunities for my bankroll, then I have at the moment. at least, in the nearest future.
I also moved part of my roll to my Pokerstars account, since mansion doesn`t offer high variety of higher limit games. I`ll play NL 100-200 for a about a month there, before my bankroll will growth. Stars has faster games and great software for multitabling, so I guess this means that I will be able to play more hands/per week.
Goals for this week:
- play 10k Hands SSS
- study silver BSS section
- visit at least 3 out of 6 BSS coachings
- study 3 BSS SH silver videos
This is my 1000's post on PS forum) decided to post it in my blog)
As you could notice, I am not updating it anymore. I bought myself a piece of software, called The Journal, so I don`t see a reason to plan my poker week here. However, I will still post reports on my progress, on monthly basis. Here you can find my graph for the February: February: Show your style!
My current achievements:
Mansion BR: 4.465$
Pokerstars BR: 3.161$
I started this blog with 750$) The real figure is about 2,5k higher, since I did some cashouts.
I expect myself to be NL1k regular by the end of the march) However, the beginning of the month wasn`t very promising ♦
Now I am spending a lot of time playing and studying, so we`ll see how it goes)
Good luck !
Hey,
decided to make an update) not much to say about my game, as I am running extremely bad and down to about -$2K on 19k hands distance) My session structure also contributes some complexity, since I prefer long 4-6 hours sessions and its quite tough to play 6 hours when you are treated like a shit all the time)) somehow, you get tired very much.
I was searching for something to make my working hours more relaxed and start listening to the music, while I am playing. It is quite obvious that the type of music I normally enjoy (minimal/techno/electro) is not very suitable for poker) So I subscribed for classical.com and put some streamed classical music on the background. I got quite impressed by the result) not only it affected my concentration, i really started to enjoy listening it) After week and half I already have a favorite playlist and can listen some throughout my normal day. I always enjoyed to discover something new that I like) thanks poker for that)
I also ordered ton of books on game theory, modeling and other mathematical/statistical stuff. want to develop game theoretical approach to the game)
this is it for now
Good luck !

apparently ♦ I`ll keep posting)
its big enough to prove that I can beat this limit (not only !) in the long run) just need to raise aggression level a little bit) add some 2,3 barreling, obviously)
Seriously, I have a perfect strategy in mind, just don`t want to waste my upswing atm
But later, there will be more lessons from the pro
