There were also a couple of spots vs different stack size that were interesting.

I have been doing some more work in the attic and I am once again covered in fiber glass and my arms are covered in rash. not nice!

Hey, cool to hear it was useful :)

2) adjust my post flop betting size. I normally hover around 1/2 pot a bit more for value , a bit less for a bluff.... going up to 2/3 occasionally. I picked up in Shev's video that he was betting big on most spots with the occasional lower bet when he had narrowed a range quite well and knew that there was either thin value or, I imagine, a folding range that does not need much to fold.

The amount you bet should be a mixture of couple things:

1) how well you're doing vs his potential calling range
2) how you perceive his range for calls/raises/folds changes based on your sizing.

w/ the AA in some post: your 4b-size is too small. Postflop it's std.

good point I will start changing my bet sizing with the passive fish in mind that call everything and do not pay attention to my opening bet size.

I had a bad tooth ache yesterday and despite this I still decided to play. I was sensible and opened mostly NL25 tables however I opened 6 instead of my usual 4. If the toothache and the increased number of tables did not suffice to hinder my concentration, I made sure of it by also adding Manu's coaching on my second screen.

WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING YESTERDAY...

I played badly as one would expect

very poor mindset which in turn translated in very poor results.

Hero raises to $0.75, CO raises to $1.25, 3 folds, Hero raises to $2.50, CO calls $1.25

Flop: ($5.35) 3 2 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.75, CO raises to $22.19 and is all-in, Hero calls $19.44

Turn: ($49.73) 6 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
River: ($49.73) T (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$49.73 pot ($2.48 rake)
Final Board: 3 2 5 6 T
Hero showed A A and lost (-$24.69 net)
CO showed 5 4 and won $47.25 ($22.56 net)

Pre flop sizing is way too small. Do you size your bluffs this way too? If so its without doubt a leak. We should be adding at least 2 extra bbs.

I normally almost never size that small, was just against that particular opponent, who has a very very weak 3 betting range and wanted to add some money in the pot while keeping him in.

I've heard about rakeback but have never ever gotten it. How does one go about getting this elusive elf? I can always use a few extra shekels at the end of the month as well

Then I prefer cling pre flop ad check raising a bunch of flops.

tbh it doesnt matter with this opponent again (hehe I have loads of rads on him _evil:) if he hits any piece of the flop he is all in straight away and if he has a monster he calls = $$$. He is kind of a regular fish. Brilliant

I'ts all opponent dependent, with proper reads you can become exploitable in order to exploit ;). I love the way you phrase it though , it sounds like a yomama joke.

Well yesterday was pretty much the opposite of the day before. It probably looked like 2 different people were playing on my account.
I think on Monday I must have been affected by the tablets I took for my tooth or something.

Anyway yesterday... I RULED.
I was looking for absolutely every spot I could exploit and used it... it worked most of the time. I also ran pretty sweet, which does help.

There were a couple of nice hands which I will try to dig after work.

made up for the loss of the day before and then some.

the Fazer never left :P, had one very bad day on Monday but I am very happy happy with my game over the last couple of month. The video review with TT and Manu has made me extend my hand range vs the weak field on PKR and the video "speeding with Shev" has helped me a lot with my range targeting and reminded me to adjust my bet sizing according to those ranges.

No I haven't. I've always heard people say they get rakeback but I never knew how to go about getting it. I will give that a try thank you

You play on PokerStars and Everest, right?

Both of them have a VIP system, rather than direct rakeback.

At Everest it's called Summit Club and as you play you earn points, and you can get cash for the points.

I'm guessing that if you go to their site, you'll find that you can also buy bonuses with the points.

For example, on another iPoker skin, I can get $2 cash for 3000 pts, but I can get a $5 bonus for 3000 pts, which is paid out when I've earned a certain amount more rake. Clearly the better deal.

PokerStars has a similar thing, only there it is a mixture of both.

In the olden days, one of the rooms put money back in my account every Thursday. <sigh>

Enjoy.

@Vorpal: I think TheMarxBros3 was talking about PKR rakeback :P

I had a good session in terms of play yesterday

here are a couple of hands I found interesting:

hand 1: we are 235bb effective , CO is a reg and htere is a station in the BB that calls 70% of pots.

PKR, $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

Hero (BTN): $66.68 (266.7 bb)
SB: $34.86 (139.4 bb)
BB: $25.35 (101.4 bb)
MP: $23.66 (94.6 bb)
CO: $58.86 (235.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 5 7
MP folds, CO raises to $0.75, Hero calls $0.75, SB folds, BB calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.35) 3 6 4 (3 players)
BB checks, CO bets $1.76, Hero raises to $6, BB folds, CO calls $4.24

Turn: ($14.35) J (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $8.50, CO calls $8.50

River: ($31.35) J (2 players)
CO checks, Hero checks

Results:

Spoiler

don't be result orientated

pre I don't want to create a massive pot 3 ways with such a marginal hand as 57s but especially deep we got good equity.

OTF , I flop pretty much the nuts and there is good value to be made from FDs , 2 pairs and sets as well as controlling the pot size to some extent by taking the initiative IP. CO is a relatively aggressive reg with a pretty predictable play.

When he calls the flush it leaves him with FDs, A :club:x (inlcuding A :club:A) , TT+ with a :club:, and sets, he might call one street with any over pairs just because of my agressivity. And offcourse made flushes.

my plan OTF was to raise fold. I am not going broke > 200bb deep with the nut straight when there are quite a few possible made flushes and I am not massively ahead of sets. that will play this way

OTT I sized my bet in a way that I can get away from it but significant enough to show that I am please with my hand and ready to get some value out of it. but also giving me the hope of a free showdown _cool:

his calling range OTT, is slightly reduced as he throws all PPs with no :club: :club: and more than likely the low ones with a :club: as well. so mostly made flush , straight flush draw and high flush draws + sets

OTR the board pairs, when he checks, I think the best is to check behind, the flush draw gonna give up or even possibly raise a thin value bet, I doubt his over pairs will call even a thin bet. he possibly will call his made flushes even to a shove + he has a lot of made full house where I would value town myself. so cb is the best OTR IMO

I have to get to work so hand 2 will be for later ;)

Hand 2

PKR, $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

Hero (MP): $43.56 (174.2 bb)
CO: $37.30 (149.2 bb)
BTN: $8.40 (33.6 bb)
SB: $16.09 (64.4 bb)
BB: $60.14 (240.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K T
Hero raises to $0.62, CO calls $0.62, BTN folds, SB calls $0.52, BB folds

Flop: ($2.11) K 3 K (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.25, CO calls $1.25, SB folds

Turn: ($4.61) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $3.07, Hero calls $3.07

River: ($10.75) Q (2 players)
Hero bets $6, CO raises to $21.16, Hero ?

Results:

Spoiler

Read my idea of the hand and you'll find out what I did ;)

CO is very straight forward reg and SB is a preflop station, KTo is a normal open from MP if there is a bad player in the blinds (even from UTG if a very bad player in BB or in both blinds)

preflop CO range consists of suited broadways , suited connectors , maybe some suited 1 gappers like 8Ts or 9Js, PPs, some Axs and some high aces, possibly some K9s, K8s type of hands

otf when he calls on such a dry board, it leaves him with Kx hands, including possibly AK; pocket pairs are never folding there and possibly a few SC or Axs that have made a backdoor and he want to float.

OTT, I give him the opportunity to float and let him bet 100% of his range I think

OTR I make a thin value bet hopping to be hero called, by Qx, 9x even and TT+, I think it is a clear fold when he raises has I can't see any bluff in his range. I took time to size the raise which I think was more of "how much can I bet and get called" type of raise.

No idea on hand 1. I don't think he has any flushes or FH. But then again I can't think of what he can call with.... He probably has something like A :club: X or K :club: X.

I'd probably fold hand 2. I don't see anything you beat tbh. There's no weaker Kx in his range, and if he's straight forward I doubt he's bluff raising you there.

If you skype me the reg names I might have some reads that could help...
