Sorry to hear you have the flu, however it is nice to be in bed watching films :) I hope the flu doesn't treat you too badly and you get a well deserved rest.

I loved Sunshine cleaning:

I think they are the same producers (or something) as in Little Miss Sunshine (which I loved too)

And this one is silly but I had fun watching it

(how bad is your cold? lol. I have more suggestions if you run out of films) :f_love:

You should also try Drive, and a documentary called Man on Wire, if you haven't seen them.

On a downside... lost my biggest ever pot today... $840 pot where the guy bet/calls a gutshot on a wet board in a squeezed pot and spikes the turn when I have the middle set :f_mad:

On a plusside... I dealt with it alot better than I thought I would :f_cool:

Seriously though. I didnt go to hell. Nor to heaven. I am alive and well. :)

Alot of things happened in my life the last couple of months... I've met a really amazing guy. The kind of guy a girl doesnt really dare to dream about :f_biggrin: :f_love: Sadly, that takes quite some time and focus away from other parts of my life, such as poker.

As I wrote before (or well i think I did anyway) I took some time to myself to think about what I wanted to do, and what role I wanted (or could handle) poker to play in my life. My motivation to play (and learn, breath, think) poker was pretty much non excistant. Alot of factors played in here, even more than I still am aware of, I'm sure. One thing that I can't deny played a significant role was the downswing I headed into. We all know what they can do to mess with our heads... but when most of your love for the game has faded away and been replaced, it gets even tougher to deal with.

So what I decided to do was to go back to school. I still have/had a few courses I need to complete in order to be able to apply to uni (which I am not sure I will do anytime soon - but I at least wanted to have the option to do so) which would take 1 semester. Enough time for me to step back and look at things from a different perspective. Sweden being the awesome country it is, I get enough money from studying to get by without having any pressure to make money playing poker. I still am playing, thats half the point. I wanted to see how I feel about playing poker when some of the stressfactors were removed.

I am only a few weeks in so far, so I havent really got that much to say yet. Maybe I should keep this blog a bit more active again, and keep tracks of my thoughts in here.

One thing I have started thinking about is spending next winter in Thailand... :f_biggrin: I've always hated the swedish winters and I know I sure wouldnt mind being somewhere in Asia right now. If you CAN do it, and you WANT to do it... then why not?

xoxo

you going to get a job waiting tables at Thailand or playing poker? :f_ugly:  Are you planning to be pro again during summer? Or taking some sidekick position from some random superhero?

Ha, havent gotten around to updating anything... shame on me!

I am starting to feel a little bit worn down... I realized something today though, which explains it a bit. After my class I took a closer look at the studyplans for my courses, and it turns out that all of my courses (which are supposed to be at 100% pace, thus 40 hours a week) are infact put on a higher pace. All of them have 4-6 weeks at the end of semester where, if you are able to keep up with the pace and finish all exams/essays in this pace, we dont have anything to do.

So in fact we're studying more at a 150% pace. On top of this I am trying to play 60-90 hours of poker per month... so yea, its not that strange that I've felt tired. My weekend for example was probably very unlike most of my fellow students... Saturday: 8 hours of poker + doing some stuff around the house. Sunday: Another 8 hours of poker + 3 hours of studying. It did ofc result in neither my brain or body feeling like getting up and going to class today, but after a hot shower I was able to drag myself to school. :f_biggrin:

It's quite hard but dont they say "to be the best you have to outwork the rest"? If I can keep this up it will be incredibly rewardning when I am done. I wont have fuckall to do in may but to play poker :f_love:

But it's really about more than that too... I want to prove to myself, that I can be, and in fact AM, more than just average. For 4-6 months after I came back from the Philippines, poker wasnt really going that well and I really didnt feel like playing either. I had more or less lost my drive and motivation completely. I played maybe 20 hours of poker in an entire month. I was feeling down and depressed and had lost the belief that I can take my life wherever I want.

So by pushing through this I'll reinstate all of those beliefs. I partly already have. Now I just gotta keep it up :)

I've been doing alot of thinking lately. About alot of things really.

Although after todays class something in particular has been on my mind. A few weeks ago, I was steaming in a chatgroup on skype about a groupassignement and an argument I had with one of the girls in the group, when one of the guys in chat writes "vonki you are my dreamgirl! you dont take shit from anyone". I never thought of myself as someone who doesnt take shit from anyone, its certainly not something I do consiously. (or is it? :f_p: ) Then today after class, my teacher in leadership says "I can tell you think alot about alot of things and have alot of potential. And you dont buy something (eg arguments) just because others want you to".

She was refering to a groupassignement we did a few weeks back (not the same as the one i steamed about) where she gave us a questionare with statements or questions where we had the answer YES or NO. She then told us that now as a group, you have to discuss these different questions or statements and you may not write down a YES or NO until you have all votes. Its not supposed to be a majority answer, you need all votes. She says she will not get involved at all or correct anything, she's just going to sit in a corner and let us run the show ourselfs (it is a leadership course after all). The first question was whether there is ALWAYS a leader in a group or not. I'd said no along with a few others, rest said yes. The others who'd said no one by one changed their opinion to a YES, but I wouldnt because I agreed there is MOSTLY a leader, but far from always.

Whether its right or wrong is not the point, but one girl in the group then probably gets tired of being stuck and says "Oh well, I'm going to write down a YES because everyone else said yes" and starts writing on her paper. Not intimidated by the grouppressure and everyone looking at me I just calmly say to her "No, you will not. You need all the votes and you do not have them. Move on to the next question and I'll give it some more thought".

Whats so interesting about it is that a few years ago (pre poker if you will) I never would have dared to stand up to the whole group like that. I think mostly because of being scared of conflict, and being judged or being in the centre of attention, along with other reasons. Insecurity may be another. I have changed alot over the past years, and probably even more so than Im aware of myself...

I dont know what I wanted to say with this all, just wanted to put my thoughts down in words and this was the best place I could find. :) Some days it just becomes obvious to me how much I've "bloomed" or grown as a person as a whole by all the work I've done with myself over the past few years. Today's just one of those days when I aprechiate more than ever all the things poker has lead to. :f_love:
