February 2016 Poker Results Summary

Hi friends!

So February was my best calendar month for winnings with $1020 won! Let's look at some figures...

Profit/loss: +$1020
Hours played: 82
Hands played: 13847
$/hr: $12.40

Very happy with those numbers of course, had some bad days at the tables with playing some tough villains so there is room for improvement. Of course the amount of hands played is still very small so variance plays a big part. :)

Hands commented: Hands reviewed: Reviewed workbook: Studied poker video:
All the above were done to target

Average sleep per night: 6 hours 45 minutes
I am not sure how I feel about this. I definitely need to sleep more to be able to concentrate at the tables after long day at work but on the other hand I had some fears that I would never get back to this level as I was waking up after 4.5 hours without alarm and once I realised I needed to change that I wondered how on earth it could happen! Want to increase it to over 7 hours in March...

Times meditated: Every single session that I played I meditated first - that is how important it is for me. I also meditate some times when I don't play.

Self improvement book: Over 32 hours reading (or listening to) self education books. More like 42 hours as I don't record it some days.

Journal: Gratitude list written: Written out life purpose: Blogged:

All approximately to target

We have now got 3 holidays booked this year! We go away in March for 4 nights/5 days and we are very lucky that my father-in-law has paid for that as a gift for last Christmas. On the strength of my consistent results I have put a deposit down for a holiday in August and another in December. Those special times as the four of us altogether are so important to me so I am very happy that it looks like I will make them possible through playing poker. Please do not send me on huge down-swing now!!!!

For March I will keep everything the same. Try to get more sleep and create space in my brain for improvement. As it is Easter and we have holiday it will be a short month for hours and hands so need to run good to make another $1000 ;)

This is how $10,000 Journey looks at end of February...

Away from the tables as always everything is magnificent. I feel at one with the world and with myself. I now spend practically all of my time in one of 3 states - acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm. No resistance.

Let's enjoy March, good luck amigos! :)

Thanks again for your nice blog. You always inspire to continue to work on your goals.
Did you do last year the 60K -programm?
And was the book "How to become a Poker Millionaire" included in this programm?
Can you recomment this book for me?
And the video-course "Mastering 3bet -pots" ? Can you recommend this course for me?
Thank you very much EatyourPeas for your answer.

Other Stuff...

I require some feed back please!?

Every now and then somebody will ask me "how the hell did you live on 4 to 5 hours sleep per night" etc (bear in mind I did this for 2 years while working full time, having young family, working on investment properties, training tae kwon do and trying to get good at poker) and the answer to this cannot be written in a short paragraph. I apologise that I never answered this in a satisfactory way before but that is why.

If I get enough feedback that people would like me to write the article/post/book(!) about this then I will do it. So please just post in here "write it" or something (or even "do not bother!") and I will total responses and do it if enough (free of course!).

Son got rid of his chicken pox, went back to school for one day then that night was sick all over his bed so had to have two more days off school!!! He was fine though so think he just ate something bad and puked it out! So he went back to school again today and now daughter (7) is ill with 40 degrees temperature! :(

This weekend we celebrate Mother's day so will treat wife, mum and mother-in-law to a meal out (with my poker winnings ;) )!!!

Have a great weekend amigos and remember to post if you want to learn how to sleep 4 - 5 hours per night EASILY! :)

Hi adelaar!
I joined the 60k programme October 2014 and left October 2015 with less than $1000 profit.
Not sure on "how to become poker millionaire" being included but it is kinda in there anyway so yh!
"Mastering 3b pots" I did not get so cannot recommend sorry.

$10,000 Journey - Week 20 - 29/02/2016 to 06/03/2016

Hi friends! Here is quick summary of poker events for last week...

This was not one of my most productive weeks. For a start I decided not to play last night as we had celebrated Mothers Day and although I did not drink much alcohol I decided it would be better to not play (just reviewed some hands and relaxed). Also my daughter has got chickenpox now and seems to be suffering a lot worse than my son did so it has not been easy to stay on top of things and poker suffered slightly. In fact she has symptoms of Scarlet Fever this morning and it sounds like getting the two at the same time can be quite serious so Helen is trying to get her into see a doctor as I write.

Let's see the numbers...

Profit/loss: +$97
Hours played: 18.25
Hands played: 3122

Hands commented: 22
Hands reviewed: 20
Reviewed workbook: 4x
Studied poker video: 5x

Average sleep per night: 6h 45m
Times meditated: 6x
Self improvement book: 3.5 hours
Journal: 3x
Gratitude list written: 4x
Written out life purpose: 4x
Blogged: 3x

Overall a strange week, poker took a back seat so not much to say on it.

Graph to date...

Total profit +$3363.
135 days gone, 144 to go!

I did ask in couple of blogs if people would like to see an article telling how I reduced sleep to 4 to 5 hours per night (for two years) in my attempts to increase productivity but have not had enough positive replies to warrant writing it. If you would like to see such an article please just let me know.

Have a great week amigos, I am just hoping that my daughter makes a rapid recovery!

I wish a good recovery for your daughter. Chicken pox is not nice and when she got another disease at the same time, it is tough.
Give her al the best for good resistance, like chicken-bouillon and camomille-tea.
And of course fresh vegatables/vitamins.

Thx for our concern and advice, much appreciated.
It took two doctors' opinions but they decided the secondary rash is a viral infection and not Scarlet Fever. Chickenpox is making her very itchy but she is pretty happy today so we are much happier! Thx again.

So the sleep article is on hold until we get a few more positive feedbacks!

I have finally completed an article called "My Property Portfolio - The Story So Far" with some insights into how that got to where it is, hopefully it is interesting to some of you guys...

Hi! Not rude at all. When I write my article on sleep I would like to make it good/accurate as it has been a very big thing for me. To do the article justice will take me some time so will do it when I know it is really wanted. I mean it will come in the end anyway. Thanks for feedback.

Poker Results (2 days) - 10/03/2016

Hi guys, quick update for last couple of days, not a lot of study went on but played quite a few hours (for me!).

Profit/loss: +$22
Hours played: 11.75
Hands played: 2391

Hands commented: 4
Hands reviewed: Nil!
Reviewed workbook: 1x
Studied poker video: 2x

Sleep: 6.75 and 6.5 hours

So I had the last two days off work to look after my daughter as she is off school with chickenpox and my wife was on a course. I did play more hours but also spent some time with her (I cannot resist Tom & Jerry!).

Tables were really quiet at HU and also PKR joining Microgaming is pretty bad for me as I have not got many sites to go hunting on now. So.... I played some 6 max!

Flitted around on NL25 mostly but did play some NL50. Took me a while to stop playing all positions like the blinds and managed to be around break even whilst feeling my way around a bit. Think the day will come when I go back to 6max full time so I am preparing for it, but would like to stay at HU in the main for now. What sites are softest for 6max these days (and accepts us UK bums)?

I won't be playing tonight or tomorrow night as going out for drink and curry with Helen tonight and going out for beers with mates tomorrow evening. Seems ages since had beers with mates so looking forward to that! Mind you, 5 pints and I am on my back these days! Only 6 or 7 years ago I would have that for breakfast! ;)

Have a great weekend amigos - don't drink too much!!! ;)

Week 21 Poker Results - 7/3/2016 to 13/3/2016

Hi friends! Another week goes by and a strange one it was! More illness for my kids meant some changes to plans but hopefully they are both on the mend and will be okay for our holiday nest week! Fingers crossed!

Let's have a look at the poker results first...

Profit/loss: +$164
Hours played: 20
Hands played: 3598

Hands commented: 19
Hands reviewed: 15
Reviewed workbook: 4x
Studied poker video: 5x

Average sleep per night: 6 hours 33 mins
Times meditated: 5x
Self improvement book: 4 hours
Journal: 2x :(
Gratitude list written: 3x :(
Written out life purpose: 3x :(
Blogged: 3x

So yeah, happy with profit for this week as it was quite a swingy week and I would not have been surprised to see a negative result.

This week PKR and Microgaming merged so I basically lost one of my sites. I think there will come a time where HU action gets limited for me so much so that I have to look at other formats. Going back to 6 max is fine if it comes to that and I played a little bit this week in anticipation of that happening. I will probably carry on playing a little bit of 6 max especially if the HU fishes are not swimming!

$10k Journey

Half of the time has gone for this journey now...

Profit $3527
Days gone 142
Days to go 137

I think if I had said at the start I would have made 1/3 of the money at 1/2 of the time then I would have been very happy with that.

Short term need to win more at HUNL100 and hopefully win a little at NL25 and NL50 6 max.

Other stuff

Finally posted my Property Story So Far article for my main blog which has been received very well and had some nice messages of thanks for sharing which is always great to hear, thank you.

We go on holiday one week today! I am thinking to go a day earlier and treat my family to a night in a nice hotel on the way to our main vacation. Somewhere with swimming pool so we can have some fun and just make the holiday a day longer!

We are trying to exchange contracts on another house right now. It has been going through since October but finally things seem to be happening. I don't know why but I still get the feeling it might fall through, no idea why.

Daughter has gone back to school as her chickenpox are all scabbed over now so apparently not contagious. Son was sick again when he went to bed last night. Third time he did this now at exactly the same time. Time for investigations into this!

I have been listening to a book by Eckhart Tolle this last couple of weeks. Amazing stuff. A year ago I would have dismissed it as it is quite spiritual but now I am loving it!

Oh, nearly forgot... I am doing a juice detox for the next 5 days. No eating, just drinking juices made from vegetables and fruit. Need to get rid of cravings for sweet things so it will reset my taste buds. Also losing half a stone would not go a miss! 93kg (203lb) today. Also set myself a challenge to do 100 press ups by end of year (in one go I mean!!!) because lol getting old/out of shape! ;)

Poker Results (2 days) - 16/03/2016

Hi amigos! Quick look at poker results for last couple of days...

Profit/loss: -$9
Hours played: 3.5 :(
Hands played: 510

Hands commented: 10
Hands reviewed: 10
Reviewed workbook: Cbet flop x 2
Studied poker video: Flop in 3b pot x 2

Sleep: 6h15m & 5h45m :(

Not very good couple of days for playing poker! Lost some time (2.5 hours) for a start as I had to deliver some signed documents to solicitor in emergency and also making juices has taken me some time ;)

Such a small sample but need to look back at a couple of medium/big pots where I called a river bet thinking villain was super polarized and villain had nuts these times. Fairly sure they were okay but just need to look back at those. I also made a dumb call versus a river raise which was ridiculous as I said to myself to bet/fold and then for some reason I bet/called. Obviously I was not fully in the moment, something to look out for.

For the house purchase we are the end of a chain of 6 and we have been waiting since October for everyone to get sorted and then yesterday we suddenly got an ultimatum from our vendor "complete this Friday or we drop out"!!! Not very fair really but hey, what can you do? I always say if something like this happens it will be for the greater good in the long run - and it generally is true!

5 sleeps until holiday! Lots of excitement building up at home!!! ;)

No time for update today so will do tomorrow. Getting "killed" at the tables though! ;)

Meanwhile, I will share this from my main blog....

Thought For The Day #1

I be. I am.
No future. No past.
When I am being I am immersed in being, not looking for something in the future, not trying to overcome, dissolve or emulate the past.
The future and the past are not what LIFE is.
Life is now, this moment.
I embrace this moment always and I am always in one of these states… Acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm.

Poker Results (3 days) - 19/3/2016

So three days worth of poker results today. Had a mad day yesterday trying to sort out house purchase and clear some things up before holiday so no chance to write. House purchase still not cleared up so will still be trying to sort it while on holiday it seems!

Profit/loss: -$104
Hours played: 8.25
Hands played: 1252

Hands commented: 15
Hands reviewed: 13
Reviewed workbook: 3x
Studied poker video: 3x

Sleep: 7.4h :) , 6.25h :( , 6.25h :(

So yeah, was a bit manic last few days as house purchase has been going wrong all over the place! Solicitor has been making many mistakes delaying everything. We were supposed to complete last night but it fell apart and now they are trying to agree a suitable date for all 6 parties in the chain.

I do not think this affected me at the tables, just standard run. Had more NL100 action last few days and did not get the good results. No problem, keep at those buggers!

Felt somewhat owned when a guy who bought in with broken stack min check check raised my double barrel (first hand) on the turn and I called with the nut flush draw thinking he is nutted and I got massive implied odds, I missed the river and he checked so I checked back and he turned over second pair! Don't see that line much from the fishes!

We go on holiday on Monday so not sure I will update results now until end of March. March is not looking too good at the moment! ;)

Hopefully the house purchase will go through though and it will be a great month for the property portfolio instead! Oh and a great month for holidays too!!! ;)

Look after my blog while I am away and stay happy amigos! :)

Thought For The Day #2... You cannot define a person's happiness by measuring their material wealth, their possessions, their intelligence or, in fact, with anything measurable. The human race (aka the human mind) will try to convince you that you can but I assure you that you cannot.

Can I ask you what are your goals in poker and how do you see the poker economy atm? Sorry to say but getting to big money on headsup no limit in todays games is very tough if you are not very talented + have a great work ethic. I apprechiate your work ethic but I have to say you've been trying quite a long and your results imo prove that you are not super talented even though now you are making some money. If you really want to go pro I would suggest switching to MTT's they are the games where there is still plenty of value and MTTs are not going to die as fast as other games. I was breaking even player at nl100 but could still make 12k in 1,5 years playing MTTs as a side game.

Trying to achieve something realy hard might make you blind to see and think of other opportunities. I wish you the best of luck!
