So I sat there thinking to myself why I actually figured I should just skip to cash games and ignore brm and I actually couldn't come up with a logical answer. I prob thought from previous experiences cause I instant made 1k b4 that I could do it again, however I am now thinking even if I make the 1k, then what? I'm not happy playing poker just to make 1k I wanna one day be able to make 100k.
I forgot one important factor. Slow and steady wins the race, what's the point of me rushing into cash games with limited bi when I will prob be able to play them next month with 30+ bis.
From now on I am gonna take it slow and try not to rush things, I realised I am ony at the beggining really of my poker career so moving to nl50 or even 100 is only a small step, I could be playing nl1k by next year.
So it was an interesting little experience playing nl50 cash, and let me tell you, it does get your heart pounding when you don't have many bi. It won't be long till I have a sufficient roll to play it. So why risk everything?
So I hope who ever reads this finds it helpful, as for me, I am back to grinding the 23 dollar sngs. So from my experience with the cash games I am up 40 dollars and another 40 from rakeback. So I am glad it was still a profitable experience.
One thing mentally that I have noticed is that when you see poker as something you want to make money from, it kind of takes away the fun from doing anything you want to do, on the other hand when you play poker for pure fun, you risk losing your roll and going busto, so I was trying to experience both things at once, which I now realise is impossible. I choose the profitable route over the fun one, let the games begin!
And to answer your question Conall I play the 4 player ones cause it's like playing more games for less rake. But it's alot more swingy so you need stricter brm.
alright thanks for the reply. yeah every time I ignore BRM, I find more and more reasons to adhere to it. but hey, if you learn something from doing something , then as far as im concerned its not a waste of time
btw add me on skype :), id love to play a HUSNG vs you sometime!
pmed u with my skype ID
i am glad u made the above conclusions, just remember, patience is a virtue and in the poker world,in every way it eventually pays off.

I hope you guys realise why the greeks have always been the greatest philosophers.
obv because the romans didnt decide to plunder their philosophy ♦
I guess they stopped at religion haha
So haven't pld much poker lately cause been very very busy, however I pld a mtt yesterday 50k guaraunteed and I lost 40th place. So didn't win too much. I have never cashed big in an mtt with the first place being 1k+ I always seem to lose around 30th when I go far, so I am assuming there may be something wrong with my game at these stages.
I had 56k stack I was ranked 4th in the tournament when I started getting good hands and lost 7 flips in a row to eliminate me, however do you guys think I should have been playing this hands to begin with? It seems to me if I just pld like a comp nit in all the tourneys at these stages when my stack is decent sized I would go further, my mentality is that I always play for the win and you gotta win flips to get there, but is this really what I should be thinking? I didn't have the game tracked on holdem manager so I will type the basics of the hands to see what you guys think.
Hand: AJO- blinds just went up to 1k, my stack is 56 k and a few players just got knocked out so we are playing 6 handed, I rase 2.5 from early pos, and low stack comes over the top for 7bb more. He has been fairly tight, and i've been blind stealing quite abit and blinds just increased, so I was assuming that my jacks are ahead of most of his range so I call, and he turns over a-q and I lose.
The very next hand: qq- I raise 2.5 and I get 3 bet from a guy with 20bb who was also fairly tight, but not too tight, I shove and he calls with ak and I lose, should I have given up and avoid risking my big stack? or was I right to gamble, I was assuming queens were ahead of his range most of the time cause he could of easily had a hand like 88+ or aj-aq-ak. So he calls and he won the flip.
Hand:77, I min raise from early pos with 30k stack and lowstack with 12 bb shoves me from late pos and I called and he turned over k-j and beat me. Again, should I have avoided the confrontation?
Hand:22 My stack is now 20 bb and I am in mid position and min raise, low stack with 8 bb shoves me and I decide to call with the thought process that I need to gamble to win, should I have called?
Hand: a-10 low stack shoved 6 bb from early pos I called from late he turned over a-8 and cracked me.
hand: j-6o. I was in early pos with 4 bb and the blinds was going to go on me next hand, there was 2 other guys in the tourney with smaller stacks than me and one more person to get knocked out I would of got 100 more dollars. I decided to push anyway, because I wanted to play for the win, and obv the next hand I will be forced to go all in and I won't have any dead money to steal.
So this is usually what happens to me often in big mtts at late stages, what do you guys think, should I have avoided confrontation completly on all the hands and just waited for aa-or kk? I prob would of been able to squeeze out 12th place for 1k if I did this.
The AJ hand:if he was all in with the extra 7bb then it's fine, although to add,if u use stats and u see he is VERY tight or even without stats u notice u've seen him show only decent holdings and his stack got small cause of card deadness then it's fine to just let him have ur 2.5bb's
The QQ is fine ofc
The 77 i think it's ok aswell although if ur still at 1k bb's level then u make it 2k+blinds+antes it must've been around 5k right?so he shoved 12k and u need to call 10k to win around 17k.Here just as a matter of odds i dont think it's the best move to shove however i would go clearly based on what i think of the player.
The 22 hand imo,and i dont have any idea if its good to play it like that or no,my line with 22 late is R/F preflop and if i and the 3bettor are deep enough i might call for setmining, but thats got to be at least 25+bb each of us.Otherwise raise fold.
The AT is ok again, ofc u are ahead so it's all good
The J6 i am not sure, although i understand the concept behind the theory i personally prefer to take a gambol at that point, but by gambol i mean,w8ing the BB and shoving any 2 against hopefully just 1 raiser.Shoving early is just jackpot, and nowadays that people know u know that if u w8 for the BB it's worse and u lose money, they might call u even with K2+ hands.
Another thing i wanna add is,altough u played the thing fine but didnt do quite well, dont let that discourage u.U are right,u play for the win and u dont have to avoid flips, just pay attention to what u do,against different stack sizes.
Just my 2c and sorry for the long post
remember positive and negative feedback dont always correspond to making the right decision in poker!
22 shove depends on:
-where you are in relation to bubble
- level of pressure from table
- villains shove frequency and stack size
pokerstove it vs the expected range you would put villain on. I wouldnt really do it without 40% equity unless antes come into it or a frequent limp folder or something.
you might want the cEV pushbot chart I posted a while back.

With the a-j hand, the guy was a tight player, however I have been raising alot and blinds litterally went up that hand. So I was assuming he would shove alot lighter which is why I snap called. Maybe any ace.
And with the j-6, everyone was a call station at the table so I would never have it folded down to me. So I thought I might aswell just go for it, and at the same time, there is a decent chance my next hand will be worse than j-6 so I thought it may be right to shove there.
So thanks for the feedback guys.
Haven't pld at all lately because i've been sick, damn it's been a long wait, however taking this time off is making me hungry to continue playing so I estimate I will start playing again in 2-3 days when this headache goes down abit. Hopefully I can start crushing the 23's like I did the 11's. Let's see if I can keep up the 60% itm
When u are rdy and ok contact me on skype so we do a few sessions together if u like,i am free monday-friday the early hours, unavailable only 6-11pm.Atm i am playing the 23's aswell and i am up bout 200 so far.
Hope u get well soon
peace
*poke* room for one more?

thats how im doing at the moment, swingaments
:
Alright ladies and gents, i'm feeling much better and I am looking forward to start playing again on Monday baby! So we gonna put some volume in the 23 dollar hu sngs now.
Good to be back baby! I know I am gonna be up after 100 games so lookin forward to putting in decent volume! PS I am thinking about doing that thing when you don't look at your bankroll for a while. However is there really benefit to doing this? Isn't it better to be able to know that you have been taking hits to your roll and try play your a game despite being on a downer?
Alright, so here is the overview of my HU stats so far which i've pld since the start of this blog so far.

I obviously wasn't able to put in much volume, but I should still be satisfied with the results.
Tournies: 112
ROI:25.2
ITM:58.2 [was 60+ but lowered due to switching to the 4 mans]
winnings:318.75
Time pld: 18 hours [Damn could have made so much more money if I put in the volume]
$/hr: 17.71
Avg bi:11.50
Avg duration: 10.6 min.
So in general, I am gonna be posting these specific stats at the end of each month or by the time I have enough to move up to the next limit. I am using 30bi brm for these HU SNG's so next step is the 33's.
Goals for this month:
-Move up limits
-Play atleast 100 hours
-Study atleast 40 hours
-Try improve mindset and not tilt easy
-Reach final table of an mtt! I am gonna be playing the usual weekly freerolls at stars and might throw in a few low bi tournies occasionaly, so hopefuly I can finally ship one with 1k+ first prize.
Deff up for some sweats now that I am back guys, will speak to you on skype.
yo, il be on from 9am (now) to about 2.30pm GMT playin today if your around, skype me, Id love to rail!
skype: conall.ogribin
I won't be able to sweat with you since I am gonna hit the weights and will prob play 4:00pm+ so we gonna have to sweat another time
Also I have decided to single table the 23's since I am just moving up to them, I am also gonna play an MTT with the HU SNG that I play to give me a chance to work on my mtt game and also maybe cash in a big one! Since it doesn't really need much attention it shouldn't be a prob.
See you at the tables folks
Just to add to my goals for this month, I wanna play atleast 650 sng's at the end of this month.
So didn't play much today cause I was feeling pretty tired, I mainly pld a 10 dollar knockout hu tourney on stars and finished 2nd out of around 300 players, so got paid 256 and another 40 from the bounties, so not bad at all
Guy coolered me twice in first 5 hands at final table so not much I could do, atleast I still cashed well so can't really complain.
Damn would of been great if I shipped it, but if you get coolered twice in 5 hands it just wasn't ment to be.
