Hi there, nice to see you posting here in the French forum

I can't really invite you anywhere, as due to huge car expenses this year I can't do much except for seeing family :transpire:. But for the ideas of what you can do, based on the kind of activites you'd like to do I would definately advise south western France : surfing, wine, cuisine, parties (the infamous ferias in Bayonne, Dax, Mont de Marsan, .... Dax is from 12th to 17th august this year). I don't know much the region, but I guess you can find nice areas to dive, and around lake of Arcachon you should be able to do some boating. You could try in the ocean too, but I think it might be more... sporty
And for the surfing, well it's the best region in France by far. For the wines it's one of the best too.

For canyoning / rafting / kayak, I don't know if there are many good rivers around there, but since the Pyrennees are nearby, it sounds possible.
For this, there are also some very nice spots in Ardeche and Drome, most proabbly about anywhere in the Alps too, of course. But the level of the water is quite low right now here in Drome, which makes these activities more sporty, but still delightful.

I guess other members from the south west would be able to confirm or correct what I've said and give you more info or welcome you.

let me introduce myself, my name is nicolas, i'm living not far from paris and i'm 23 years old. one of my favorite thing to do is, go to restaurant !
so, if you come by here and wanna try a good restaurant in paris, there is an exceptional one in montparnasse. the name : le plomb du cantal, it's a traditional restaurant with (auvergne) speciality ! it is delicious but you really need to be hungry !! really hungry !! in there, you will be able to taste some good cheese, wine and kind of ham ( i don't remember the english name :D)

if you like food and wanna try a good restaurant, this one should be on your list for sure !!!

if u want to try a club, i can help you as well, but you have to tell me what kind of music u like. ( i can even tell you how to go in some club for free !!)

i'll take a look here every day to follow you and help you if i can.

If you'd like to spend a night in Strasbourg on your way to Paris or to the sea, I can help you to have an enjoyable day / night.

I think that I can speak an understandable english (at least for a German, with my "elsässisch" accent)
I can show you bars and maybe invite you to a party with my friends
But i'm not a clubber at all
I can eventually invite you to sleep in my place, but it won't be luxury

On the other hand i'm fond of cheese and interested in good cooking. I won't mind to share that with you.
Moreover my father is a cook chief, so if he's here we could have an amazing lesson.

Finally i think i know sightseeing in Alsace so i can tell / show you.

I don't care about a poker coaching (obviously because i'm very better than you )
... except if i can sell it on ebay

When do you planed to have your trip ?

To conclude i would say this :
For me a good summer evening is sharing a drink and a good meal with friends on a sunny terrace, playing games and having fun to finally being all drunked...
In the afternoon, we also like to play football, beach volley at the swimming pool and playing "petanque" before or during the "aperitif"
If you're looking for that and if you want to have a day in Strasbourg, you will be welcome.

If you'd like to do something a bit different, I might have a ggod advice for you : why don't you go to one of the Provence "maison d'hôtes", which litteral translation is hosting houses.

Simple principle : you are renting a room into somebody's house. Most of the times, people are very nice, and the house is soooo beautiful. In Provence, it's often wine domains or something like that. The particular zones of Carpentras, Orange or Aix en Provence are very very beautiful and are filling you criters. You are between the Gorges du Tarn, where you can do cannyoning, sea with Marseille, Cassis, Bandol and it's outback and the Alps. The provençal gastronomy is one of the most famous in France.

I made that 3 or 4 summers in a row, never have been disappointed.

And about Paris, going without reservations is a bit more complicated, especially if you don't know anybody that could welcome you.

i confirm , i leave near arcachon, yu have a nice river ( the "la leyre" ) for practice KAYAK , yu have the Ocean with a nice wave for surf or body surf,and many festival around .

I'd probably enjoy doing all the tourist stuff you mentioned and play less poker this summer :D. (Except student parties, I've left that behind a few years ago).

First of all thanks for your answers, i will definitly come back to them in a few days, i just want to add some minor infos:

we will start our tour on the 14th August, so we can spend the evening of the 14th august in France
as for music, i normally here everything, in germany if you wanna go out into a club there a roughly said 2 different musicstyles, house (techno) or alternative and i prefer house. but a rnb club or an alternative club would be fine too, i'd visit everything i can get

and for the reservation issue, i am totally counting on partypoker's vip service, they offer a concierge service for palladium elite and they promise to get you on the guest list in every club or in every restaurant, if somehow possible, so that would be my fallback plan

well yeah and just to say, surfing would be my first time, to i need to rent the board and maybe hire a teacher, this would be possible like everywhere at the sea, right?

so as i said before, i will come back to the answers before, i am very happy with them already and of course i am hoping for more answers

Hi Horror, sorry for my bad english...

If you are searching a surf spot, you have to go in the South Western in town like Biarritz, Hendaye etc... because they are the better spot. You can find others spot in the North, not far from Bordeaux too. However, forget the Mediterannea Sea because there is no wave. In the North of the France, Waves are not good too and the sun is really absent :).
You can easily find a surf teacher in the seacoast but it's a very hard sport and you need few days training before really surfing !
Moreover, if you go in this France region, from the 12st to the 17st , there are Dax's ferias !! Personnaly, i go to ferias the 15 and 16 August with friends. It's amazing traditionnal party during the week. All the town is a huge party place with drink and dance...
In this region, you have a lot of camping and you can go without reservation (i will go in a camping near Dax). There is always sun and wave
The cook is really good and the wine too !

it's not possible on mediterranean sea. only on the ocean. but you can do kite-surf on mediterranean sea.

so where did you go? did you go on south-east?
