Community Round-up: Anniversary - A year of Vhallee!
Community Manager, Diamond interviewer and all around nice guy Vhallee celebrates a year of serving the Community. More respect for short stack strategists is requested in a hot topic thread and community members xponentx & Sasa1234 receive Diamond status. It's your community round-up of the week!

Community round-up is your weekly source for all that happens inside
the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed something last week and you
still want to be in touch with our community, here are some of the most
important posts.
Community Roundup feedback thread
Poker Blog of the Week
Heads up play is pretty unique in poker and requires a different approach from full table or short-handed tables. It's not always the first choice for players but one player who is currently doing well and blogging their experiences of the FL HU scene is community member luckysim1.
luckysim1 started playing HU against his brother and whilst he is playing some sss tables and mtt tournaments too, it's the heads up action that makes this blog stand out. We all wish luckysim1 best wishes with his latest challenge and will follow his progress with interest.
Sample Hand of the Week
Sample hand of the week returns next week when I can find what I've done with the really good example that PokerStrategy Hand Judge bierbaer found for me. :o)
A busy week, so much else to fit in.
New Community Members this Week
A big warm welcome to all new community members this week.
Included amongst them (sorry we cannot name everyone) are:
- slmick5 has been playing for 5 years but still looking to improve/add to their skills;
- angelomon88 joins us from Estonia and has been playing for a year;
- bellamarysa adds to the growing female membership and is from Canada.
We wish all our new community members every success and enjoyment with
your poker and look forward to seeing you active in the forums soon.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have and/or share your
poker experiences, our members are really keen to help fellow
poker players whenever and wherever they can.
Hot Thread of the week
The two hottest discussions this week center around firstly
rakeback on platforms and secondly respect for short stack strategy
players.
Community member fwkanobi is contemplating moving
to a platform without rakeback from one where it is provided. He points
out that rakeback is an important consideration in any move and members
have been helpfully coming forward with theirs thoughts and experiences.
The consensus so far is that whilst rakeback is important, the wider
picture of bonuses/promotions/overall tournament fees and player reward
programmes also needs to be considered. Why not review the thread and
help fwkanobi with your thoughts today.
We've all been there, sitting at a table and players start to moan
about the short stackers sat at the table. Well the short stack
strategy is a justified and potentially really profitable technique and
community member raun asks for respect on behalf
of "shorties" everywhere.
Community Manager Corner
The community celebrates a special anniversary this week as Community Manager vhallee joined us exactly one year ago. I know I speak on behalf of all community members when I say that we really appreciate all the hard work and effort both vhallee and soycd put into our community, helping members with queries, creating content and looking after our interests etc.
The Diamond Series Interviews are a great example of vhallee's friendly humour and have proved to be hugely popular across the community and beyond. The news and content sections just wouldn't be the same without him. Congrats vhallee and many thanks from us all.
soycd also celebrated his birthday this week, we wish him well blowing all of those candles out. :o)

As always, this is your Community page and whilst I try to browse most
forum threads looking for points of interest, it's of course not
possible to cover everything. So go on, drop me some suggestions and/or
your thoughts on what you would like to appear in this Round-up news
item in the feedback thread (link at the top of the page).
