€1 Million recreational One Drop announced
Invitation only Big One for One Drop for recreational players only to take place in Monte Carlo this October.
A recreational player's special Big One for One Drop Extravaganza event has been announced for October 13-17, at the Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco.
The five day Monte Carlo One Drop promises to give high standard recreational players a chance to play in high stakes games without the pros and, as usual, pledges to raise money for sustainable access to safe and clean water in deprived parts of the world.
The headline event, the three-day The Big One for One Drop Invitational, which comes with a hefty €1,000,000 buy-in, is intended for wealthy businessmen, philanthropists, celebrities and other recreational players.
Pros welcome, but cannot play
Professional players can still get involved however, either as coaches or to play in cash games and side events but, following a structural re-think, they cannot take part.
The new initiative comes after fears that players have, in the past, been put off from competing against the very best, while others have opted instead to stake professionals in the hope of a payday.
The first One Drop, won by Antonio Esfandiari, was an even split between pros and recreational players but since then the event has seated a much higher ratio of professionals.
The event, organised by Caesars Interactive Entertainment and the WSOP, will allow for unlimited re-entries and will be rake free with €111,111 from each fee going to the One Drop charity leaving €888,889 for the prize pool.
