Mohsin Charania’s WSOP win lands the Triple Crown
Success in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'Em for Mohsin Charania sees him join exclusive club of Triple Crown winners.
Mohsin Charania last night joined the list of players that have successfully completed the Triple Crown after he secured victory in the 52nd event of this year’s WSOP, the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'Em.
Charania, from Illinois, USA, came out ahead of countryman Cary Katz in a heads-up battle to take home $364,438 in cash as well as his first ever WSOP bracelet and fifth ever outright tournament win.
The third and final day started with 23 players left from the 1,580 that entered of which Charania went the furthest to claim the largest slice of the $691,200 prizepool, now giving him over $5.6 million in live career earnings.
The Poker Triple Crown
From his five tournament wins, three famously combine to make what is known as the Triple Crown. The Triple Crown is made up of event wins on the, now redundant, European Poker Tour, the World Poker Tour plus a World Series of Poker bracelet win.
In December 2014, he landed his WPT Main Event win in Las Vegas for $1,177,890 and in April 2012 in Monte Carlo he took down his EPT Main Event title, worth €1,350,000. For the record, his other two event wins also came in Europe with victory in Paris in 2013 and Loutraki, Greece in 2011.
He now joins Gavin Griffin, Roland De Wolfe, Jake Cody, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospelier and Davidi Kitai* as they only six players in history to win the Triple Crown.
