Huang Wenjie wins record breaking Triton event
An amateur player defeats Jungleman heads-up to take down the biggest six-figure field in poker history.
For the third time in this series, the Triton series in Jeju broke a record for high roller attendance.
This time the $100,000 Main Event was the biggest six-figure buy-in tournament in poker history. There were 285 entries in total, which included 180 unique players.
Another recurring theme happened in the event, which is the recent trend of complete amateurs beating the best in the world.
China's Huang Wenjie defeated a final table that included Sam Greenwood, Artur Martirosian, Nacho Barbero and Daniel Cates to take down the title and the $5,555,000 first prize.
Prior to this event his Hendon Mob ranking only had $78,398 in cashes, which is relatively small for people who play these events.
The series continues this week with high stakes PLO and Short Deck tournaments.
