Aussie Millions Kicks Off With 20 Events

Australia's biggest tournament is up and running and with 20 events ranging from the AUD$550 No Limit Holdem Shootout to the high rolling AUD$100,000 Challenge and through to the AUD$10,000 Main Event, the Crown Poker Room Melbourne will be a hive of poker sickness the next couple of weeks.

The 2011 Aussie Millions is underway and it's set to be a great couple of weeks in the poker calendar.

There are 20 scheduled events, mostly No Limit Holdem but also a couple of PLO and Mixed Game events thrown in for good measure.

The AUD$100,000 Challenge on the 22nd of January should see some of poker's biggest names in attendance and the AUD$10,000 Main Event starting on the 23rd will be home to five days of intense action as 100's of hopefuls play for Australia's most coveted title.

The Main Event will be televised by Fox Sports Net and broadcast internationally.

Last year's victor

Last year it was hometown hero Tyron Krost who lifted the trophy to the chants of "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie", taking home a cool AUD$2 million - one of the largest prizes ever awarded in the southern hemisphere.

He bested a field of 746 players and an epic 13 hour final table that included the likes of Sorel Mizzi, Peter Jetten and Annette Obrestad. If last years events were anything to go by, this year should be a corker.
