Frankland and Seiver Top Premier League
The fun and frolics at Party Poker’s latest tournament jaunt continued yesterday with Scott Seiver and Matthew Frankland taking the largest haul of points.
The first to top his table was Matthew Frankland who battled through a tough field to earn a place in the heads-up battle with Sam Trickett. Having earned his spot in the finals through a last minute qualifier, Frankland’s experience has been a mixed one so far.
After only managing an 8th place finish in heat 2 he needed a win in the least round to stay in the hunt for a place in the final.
Fortunately that requirement was fulfilled as he managed to see off Luke Schwartz three-handed before outplaying Sam Trickett, yesterday.
The final hand was a classic coin flip with Frankland’s pocket tens looking to hold off Trickett’s AQ. A set on the flop was enough to give Frankland maximum points and $32,000. He now sits on 24 points, just behind Sam Trickett on 25 and Tony G on 26.
The second round of the day saw Scott Seiver best Tom Dwan to claim the lion’s share of the prizepool and move to the top of Group B with 27 points.
The final hand saw Dwan take a stand with A-5, only for Seiver to call with K-9. A king on the river sealed the deal and gave the American a real shot at making the final.
Tony at the Premier League
He’s currently gloating atop of Party’s Premier League Group A and in typical Tony G style he’s also been causing havoc backstage at the event.
While his opponents have been busy trying to find a way to defeat “The G” at the felt, the outspoken pro has been blogging about his experiences so far in Austria.
In his latest blog he talks about finding Chris “Jesus” Ferguson on the set of the TV tournament, his victory in heat 2 of the Premier League and his appearance alongside Russian president Vladimir Putin in a recent painting.
Win or lose it’s always fun and frolics when Tony is around. Indeed, when the Premier League airs later this year he’ll no doubt be the star of the show.
High Stakes Corner
Two Brits stormed the high stakes charts yesterday with daily hauls of $90,891 and $85,382 respectively. Alexander “Kanu7” Millar was the biggest winner of the day after a profitable 2,048 hands of poker. He was closely followed by “N Channing” whose 1,454 hands of poker earned him over $85,000.
At the other end of the spectrum in the last 24 hours was Isaac “philivey2694” Haxton whose current downswing continued after dropping a further $90,816. The American pro had dropped $500,000 earlier in the week to Viktor “Isildur1” Blom; a figure that has now increased thanks to yesterday’s session.
Also dropping a chunk of their bankroll was Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov who lost $72,212 over the course of 1,346 hands. A special mention also goes to “kaltrapuf” who lost $64,527 in just 74 hands yesterday.
