News: EPT Berlin Day 1b: Pius Heinz, Martin Finger and Lex Veldhuis left the building

Day 1b of the PokerStars EPT Berlin Main Event started slowly, but with increasing blinds the action was increasing, too. Pius Heinz, Jonathan Duhamel and Lex Veldhuis are just a few of the famous players who hit the rail.

The first two days of the PokerStars EPT Berlin in the Grand Hyatt Hotel are finished following the conclusion of Day 1b last night. A hoarde of 502 players paid the €5,300 entrance fee on the second starting day, giving us a total field of 745 players for the 2012 EPT Berlin.

This gives us a prize pool of €3,725,000 to be fought over by the 320 remaining players from both opening days. Of these players, 112 will make the money and there is a first prize of €825,000 waiting for the winner.

Today, 320 players are coming back to the tables for Day 2. Among them are Vladimir beyne Geshkenbein, Vanessa Selbst, Mario tupacmn Nagel, Barry Greenstein, Gereon huiiiiiiiiii Sowa, Marius marius2910 Pospiech and Shaun Deeb.

What happened on Day 1b?

Cengiz Ulusu has the chip lead - Cengiz Ulusu had a great day and earned himself 242,800 chips after Day 1b. He reached the final table of the EPT Dortmund in Season 5 and finished in 8th place. Right behind him is Calvin Anderson with 205,100 chips and third in chips is Mario Puccini with 198,900.

Jake Cody and Isildur1 put in great performances - Two of the best poker players found their way to Berlin as Jake Cody and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom each played Day 1b. They both played very aggressively and Blom especially was unstoppable. At the end of the day, Cody bagged up 149,700 chips and Blom 109,900.

Deutschland uber alles - Naturally, German and German-speaking players were in the majority in Berlin. Overall, 36% of the field were German, 3% Austrian and 2% came from Suisse to the German capital. George Danzer (54,100 chips) was the only German-speaking member of Team PokerStars Pro who survived Day 1b. Former tennis champion Boris Becker has still 27,000 chips.

Sebastian winkiac Winkler as well as Alex method999 Meidinger both had great swings the whole day long. While Sebastian now has 109,900 chips, Alex has only 36,000 left.

Who hit the rail? - Day 1b was the last day for some professional poker players. Amongst them were Pius Heinz, Lex Veldhuis, Jonathan Duhamel, Sandra Naujoks and Victor Ramdin. Also, PokerStrategists Marc gork Gork, Tobias pokernoob Reinkemeier, Jan waaaghboss Kasten, Martin 0piggybank Finger, Sebastian miamivice Ruthenberg, Manig swordfish007 Löser and Siyu lovewrecked Sha busted.

Day 2 of the EPT Berlin Main Event begins on Wednesday 12:00 CET.
