Phil Ivey wins Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge (again)
Ivey quashes rumours he is broke by winning the biggest tournament prize of his career in Melbourne.
The Aussie Millions has just concluded with yet another star-studded Super High Roller event, which has seen Phil Ivey once again return to the winner's circle.
He is $4 million richer after defeating Isaac Haxton heads-up in the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller event.
Also at the final table was 2013 player of the year Daniel Negreanu, Mike McDonald, Tom Dwan and Fabian fabstinho Quoss.
Negreanu has started 2014 much in the same way as he ended 2013, cashing twice in Super High Roller events for nearly $2 million in combined cashes.
Amazingly, Mike McDonald's third place finish for $1,900,000 is his third seven-figure cash of 2014 so far. It is also his sixth straight Super High Roller final table.
But it is Ivey that will command all the headlines. It was rumoured earlier this year that he was bust, so his $4 million pay day will dispel those claims. This is the second time he has won this event, having previously done it in 2012. That time was against 15 competitors for $2 million, this time he outlasted a field of 46 entries to win double that.
That concludes the 2014 Aussie Millions. Next up for the Super High Rollers is the $100,000 WPT Alpha8 event in South Africa, which takes place on Friday.
