EPT insiders hint at San Remo replacement

EPT's mystery stop

For those that like to keep an eye on the EPT's schedule you'll have probably noticed that there is an unusually large gap between February and April.

Keen observers will also notice that EPT San Remo is currently not listed on the roster which poses the question: what will replace the Italian stop?

During a recent EPTLive broadcast from Barcelona, Joe Stapleton stated that an "exciting announcement" would be made soon, but quite what that would be he couldn't say.

The decline in player numbers of the last few years in San Remo could certainly mean that there won't be an event in the coastal city this season, but so far no one is clear where the tour might head.

According to some at EPT Barcelona, Vienna could be on the menu. The Austrian stop proved immensely popular in Season 10 with the Eureka Poker Tour's second flight becoming the largest opening flight in the tour's history.

Second in the current round of betting is Berlin which looks a more likely prospect than other suggestions such as Copenhagen, Dublin or Tallinn.

They are currently the hottest couple in the poker world, but how did Olivier Busquet and Dan Colman meet?

Having stolen almost all of the money and headlines in the poker world over the last few weeks, PokerStars recently caught up with Colman to get the story behind the game's latest "bromance".

Real world poker

The article itself might not reveal anything we didn't already know, but an overview of the poker world by news.com.au is worth reading for the opening line alone.

Entitled "Inside the seedy world of professional poker players", the piece leads with the following intro:

"When most people think of poker, they think gun-obsessed Instagram party douche Dan Bilzerian and his legions of bikini-clad hangers on, smoky dens full of cigar-chomping Italians, or smooth-talking suaveness of Daniel Craig’s James Bond in Casino Royale".

From the glamorous heights of James Bond and Dan Bilzerian, the article goes on to explain that the life of a grinder is actually a lot less exciting than outsiders imagine.

Profiling a grinder who goes by the name "Dave", the article paints a picture of 10-hour days, financial swings and the relationship between skill and luck.

In fact, it's the latter point that makes the article interesting. Instead of simply calling poker a game of luck, the writer takes time to point out that luck is a factor in the game, but one that becomes less important over time.

High Stakes Poker

Patrik Antonius made a rare appearance at the top of the high stakes chart last night after raking in $167,507. Despite playing only 458 hands, the Finnish pro managed to finish comfortably ahead of Sebastian Ruthenberg who was the only other players to break the six-figure profit mark.

Providing the bulk of the profit for yesterday's grinders was Chun Lei Zhou. The Asian grinder dropped $276,344 to become Sunday's biggest loser ahead of 'Sanlker' and Alexander Kostritsyn.
