A Look Back at PokerStars.net EPT Season 7
With only the Grand Final in Madrid remaining on the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Season 7 schedule, here is a look at what happened.

EPT San Remo has come to an end, which means there is only one event left on the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Season 7 schedule- the Grand Final in Madrid.
Season 7 has been a huge success, although it will likely fall short of the record-breaking attendance from Season 6. Season 6 saw a total of 9,157 players representing 97 nationalities take part in events.
The Grand Final will determine one EPT record, however. The total prize pool for the season is currently over €43 million, but excellent Grand Final attendance and the success of several new high buy-in tournaments may still push that number over the EPT's current record of €56,672,284 from Season 6.
Success in Season 7
One thing that hasn't changed this season is that the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) remained the biggest tournament on the circuit.
Season 7 set a single-tournament EPT attendance record with the PCA Main Event, which had 1,560 entrants and narrowly edged out the 1,529 from the year prior. The total prize pool for the event was $15,132,000, and Galen Hall was lucky enough to take home the lion's share of $2,300,000.
EPT Season 7 has also been a year for both new and old poker stars to shine. Of the players in the top 10 in Season 7 Player of the Year points, none made the top ten last year, and only Martin Jacobson is in the top 10 on the all-time EPT Leaderboard.
Fernando Brito, a businessman from Portugal, has been wildly successful and finds himself the unlikely leader in Season 7 Player of the Year points. Brito finished in 6th place at the EPT London Main Event for $226,910, 1st place in a €10,000 entry tournament at the EPT Vienna for €90,000, and 1st place in the €10,000 entry EPT Barcelona High Roller for €127,500. Additionally, he has several excellent finishes in smaller preliminary tournaments.
