Aleksei Vandyshev wins the WSOP Online Main Event
The Russian secured a $2.5 million payday, a championship bracelet and won one of the biggest tournaments in online poker history.
It looks like online bracelet events are hear to stay after a second big outing for the GGPoker WSOP Online. The $5,000 Main Event didn't quite make the lofty guarantee but it still remains one of the biggest online poker tournaments in history.
Your 2021 champion is Aleksei "Ha KoJleHu" Vandyshev of Russia who bested a field of 4,092 entrants for the championship bracelet and $2,543,073 payday.
He defeated Edson "CrownUpTsu" Tsutsumi Jr of Brazil heads-up after a five hour final table.
Hopes of a very unique Main Event champion were dashed when former Unibet pro Epsen Jorstad was eliminated in 6th place. He had been streaming his run to the final table from the start and could have been the first person to win a Main Event showing his hole cards on Twitch. He does, however, qualify for the GGPoker Stream Dream promotion for streaming his way to the final table, so should have won a live Main Event package as a result.
