Aussie Millions 2010 schedule announced
The schedule for the first big live poker event in 2010 has just been announced. The Aussie Millions 2010 events will run from 14th-31st January 2010 in Crown Casino, Melbourne.
The annual Aussie Millions tournament is definitely the biggest poker event in the southern hemisphere, and one of the biggest tournaments in the world. Every year, many of the world's top poker pros and celebrities take the long trip down to the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia to take part in the event.
Crown Casino has just announced the schedule for Aussie Millions 2010, and it looks set to be another exciting two and a half weeks of poker down under to kick start 2010. The opening events begins on 14th January, while the Main Event is set to run from 24th-30th January. A total of 20 exciting events are scheduled for 14th-31st January 2010.
Stewart Scott and David Steicke the big winners in 2009
In January this year, Stewart Scott bested a field of the biggest names in poker to emerge as the 2009 Aussie Millions champ. Poker luminaries who made the trip to the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event included Patrik Antonius (pictured right), Chris Ferguson, Jeff Lisandro and Ivan Demidov. 2005 WSOP Champ Joe Hachem was also present to soak up the adulation of his hometown fans.
By emerging as the champion, Scott took home a whopping AUD$2million prize, while second placed Peter Rho walked away with $1million. For 2010, Crown Casino is expecting an even bigger turn out next year and believes that the first place winner will take home AUD$2.5 million. David Courtney, CEO of Crown went on to explain that they expect to draw 2,500 players with at least 1,000 attending the Main Event for 2010.
Besides the $10,500 buy-in Main Event, Aussie Millions also features a $100,500 buy-in high rollers event. David Steicke was the champion of this big buy-in event in 2009, putting his name in the same league as past champions like John Juanda, Erick Lindgren and Howard Lederer. The 2-day $100,000 challenge will be played on 23rd and 25th January 2010.
