Aussie Millions Main Event Day 2: The Bubble Is About To Burst
Day 2 of the Aussie Millions AUD $10,000+$500 Main Event has just ended, with two thirds of the players leaving the competition. With 64 paid places and 86 players still in the game at the end of this day, we are getting closer to the final table.
With days 1A, 1B and 1C over and a total of 681 players attending, the AUD $10,000+$500 Aussie Million Main could proceed to the next stage, Day 2. 320 people sat down at the tables on this day, but only 86 of them will come back for more action on Day 3.
The levels for this playday were set to last 2 hours, which was supposed to slow down the action. However, this was not the case, as big pots were flying left and right, making and breaking leaders at the Crown Casino.
Just like in the previous days, poker pros did not miss the action, but some of them could not hang on long enough to survive the day. Amongst the ones who got sent to the rail, we had Ivan Demidov, Marty Smyth, Tony G, David Saab, Nick Binger, Neil Channing, Phil Laak and James Obst.
However, some well-known faces are still in the race and we will see more of them on Day 3. Included in this category are the likes of Patrik Antonius, Scotty Nguyen, Annette Obrestad, Steve Sung, Sorel Mizzi, Joe Cassidy, Clonie Gowen, Michael McDonald andBarny Boatman.
One pro is doing particularly well, actually: the young Norwegian player Annette Obrestad finished the day in second place, having 454,800 chips. Also, another lady is in the top, and by top we mean chip leader - Annica Ivert leads the Day 2 crowd with a stack of 555,900 chips. Finnish poker star Patrik Antonius also managed to end the day in the top 10, as his stack of 335,900 chips allowed him to place seventha at the end of the day.
