Brian Rast wins the Poker Players Championship for a third time
His sixth bracelet overall and a strong favourite to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame after his third PPC win.
There is something about the Poker Players Championship that brings out the memorable victors. Michael Mizrachi has won it three times and Daniel Cates won it back-to-back.
Now Brian Rast has made his claim for the greatest mixed games player of all time, by also winning it for a third time.
He defeated a field of 99 in the $50,000 event and a final table that included Matthew Ashton, Phil Ivey, Talal Shakerchi, and James Obst, to take it down for $1,324,747.
This is also his sixth bracelet overall, mirroring what Shaun Deeb and Jeremy Ausmus have done this year.
Rast has just been announced as a nominee for the Poker Hall of Fame, and with this victory, you would not bet against him. He said of his chances after the win:
"I mean, listen, I have my opinion but the truth is, is the people that vote on are in the Hall of Fame. So what I think doesn't matter, you know, my job is to come to the poker table and play when I want to and compete and we'll let the people in the poker hall of Fame make that decision and, you know, I just keep doing what I do and we'll see what they say,"
