Colman to quit poker in 2015?
One Drop winner apologises for "over the top" Hellmuth rant, hints at end of career.
Off the back of what was a very mixed reaction to his anti Phil Hellmuth outburst last week, Dan Colman has now apologised for "being too harsh" in his choice of words, but remains adamant that the fundamentals of his argument should be taken into account:
"Again, I agree I was wrong for attacking Phil in the manner I did, and I apologize, but my main points stand. In my view he is a terrible ambassador for the game, and I think its despicable that with all the money he made as the face of UB, he has never even sat down and engaged the poker community about his involvement."
Then, having been prompted by some Hellmuth backers to clarify the purity of his own past, Colman confessed to using multiple accounts online at an earlier stage of his career:
"I multiaccounted tournaments online when I was 17-18 with a me against the world mentality. I have made plenty of mistakes, but I know I am far from that person I once was."
The $22m man also hinted at an imminent end to his career on the felt during an alleged conversation with fellow high stakes crusher Doug 'WCGRider' Polk:

Riess is no beast?
Not satisfied with a tirade aimed at just one Main Event champion's ambassadorial ability, Colman also managed to land a body blow to the ego of 2013 winner Ryan Riess:
"Look to the new main event champ, Martin Jacobson, unlike the last champ, he doesn’t have to go around saying he’s the best in the world after winning. He plays phenomenal poker and carries himself exceptionally well, so his peers are happy to do the talking for him."
That sly jab may well have been fuelled by Riess taking Hellmuth's side in the original debate:
