Bitar sentenced

Bitar pleads guilty

Ray Bitar, the man behind Full Tilt, appeared via video link to answer charges of fraud, gambling and money laundering, yesterday.

Having been allowed to virtually submit his guilty plea, Bitar maintained his offer to forfeit $40 million of his personal wealth and was additionally sentenced to time served.

The sentence was given in light of his heart condition that doctors have stated could kill him within 6-12 months if he doesn't get a transplant.

During the trial Bitar's lawyers disclosed that he is currently enrolled on a heart transplant program that will commence on May 6.

Time served means that Bitar's previous seven days in prison back in July 2012 will be to his sentence, meaning that he will avoid a further stint in prison.

Eyster dominates WPT

Madsen in contention

While Daniel Negreanu was busy claiming his fifth WSOP bracelet, Kevin Eyster kept a stranglehold on the latter stages of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown.

Day 4 welcomed 21 players to the felt and leading the way when the action kicked off was American pro, Eyster.

Despite being flanked by the likes of Faraz Jaka and Matt Salsberg, Eyster kept his composure and at the close of play he finished in the same position as he started.

Bagging 5,680,000 chips, Eyster made the final steps towards his first WPT win with more than 1 million chips than his closest rival, Paul Dlugozima (4,470,000).

While Eyster finished the penultimate session hopeful for his first major title, Jeff Madsen (1,385,000) was looking for his first tournament victory since 2010.

The multiple bracelet winner bagged enough chips to start today's finale in fifth place, just ahead of Zo Karim (685,000).

KatieDozier314 is sick

PokerStars has just announced the winners of its "Sickest Setup" contest and amongst those scooping a prize was PokerStrategy.com coach, KatieDozier314.

The American pro's submission earned her the admiration of Team PokerStars pros and community members alike.

The win earned her 50,000 FPPs as well as the jealous glances of grinders across the world who can only wish they were able to make money in such a glamorous setting.

Also earning the respect of their peers with their setups was: Russell "rdcrsn" Carson, "TheLife" and "Martylowrens".

Blom dominating

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom continued his domination of the high stakes scene with another table-topping performance, yesterday.

Playing through a total of 1,799 hands, Blom banked $548,148 to finish the day ahead of Alexander Kostritsyn ($258,070), "kagome kagome" ($126,764) and Ilari Sahamies ($96,000).

Blom's latest win erased some recent losses and takes his 2013 profit to $3,751,480.

Suffering a bout of negative variance in the last 24 hours was Kyle "KPR16" Ray and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

While Dwan dropped $247,429 over the course of 1,678 hands, it was Ray who topped the loser chart with a deficit of $483,544.
