The champ needs you

Only a few months back you could have been forgiven for thinking that Pius Heinz was a condiment brand. Nowadays, if you haven't heard of Pius Heinz, you're probably dead.

The 2011 WSOP Main Event champ is pretty big news these days, especially in his native Germany. So much so that he has the need for an intern to join his management team.

German recruitment site Jobmensa is advertising for a young dynamic marketing whiz to help grow Pius Heinz, the brand, so maybe we will see his face on a ketchup bottle after all...

Stinger for Zynga

EGR today reports that despite a 91% rise in revenues for the year 2011, social gaming operator Zynga has posted a net income loss of $404.3m in its first year of operation since IPO in December 2011.

Zynga invested heavily in product development over the past year, and word on the street is that real money poker may well be on the horizon. 

COO John Schappert admits the company is "interested" in exploring real-money gambling sometime soon.

Juttelstad GG's Gigi, wins WPT Seminole

Last night saw the final six players duke it out for WPT Seminole, with all eyes on lone woman standing, Gigi Gagne.

Gagne took a healthy lead into the final, poised to become the WPT's first ever female winner, but sadly came up one place short, as Matt Juttelstad bested her heads-up to take the $268,444 first prize and $25,000 WPT Championship seat.

Somerville opens up

WSOP bracelet winner and highly regarded tournament pro Jason Somerville got the forums talking this week after admitting on his blog that he was gay.

Somerville discusses the somewhat closed environment in which poker players live, and remarks that aside from Vanessa Selbst, he has "never met a single gay professional poker player." 

It's a candid account from Somerville, and well worth a read.

Bodog's ground breaking technology

The sub-heading is slightly tongue-in-cheek, but we thought it was worth pointing you over to Pokerfuse today, where they have published a rather witty account of Bodog's latest software feature, player notes.

The "revolutionary new concept" of note taking has been taken to dizzy new heights, quips author Michael Gentile; "the coolest of all features is that the tool automatically erases all your notes if you or a player you have taken notes on leaves the table." 

NASA boffins will be trembling in their boots.
