Howard Lederer to break silence?

Could this be the week that Full Tilt owner Howard Lederer finally speaks out after more than a year of silence? Yesterday the Las Vegas Review Journal reported that he has given his first interview to PokerNews, which should be appearing on the site very soon.

The LVRJ also reported that Howard had seven homes, six of which were in Las Vegas, all of which are at risk of forfeiture.

On top of this, Mason Malmuth of the 2+2 forum confirmed that they have also been in talks with Howard and plan to do a follow-up interview after the PokerNews interview has been published, to clear up any unanswered questions.

Last week Andy Bloch gave his first interview on Full Tilt Poker since Black Friday, can we expect the same from Howard this week?

ElkY vs Katchalov WCOOP prop bets

If playing poker for high stakes wasn't exciting enough, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Eugene Katchalov have spiced the WCOOP up with a series of prop bets designed to be "punishing" but "useful".

The lowest-placed finisher of the two in the WCOOP leaderboard has to learn and complete a full interview in the other player's language by the time the PCA comes around. If they fail to do that, they have three months to prepare for a full length marathon.

The player with the least cash winnings at the end of the WCOOP has to cycle 130 miles from Cannes to San Remo.

And finally the player with the least number of cashes has to do 1,000 press ups within 12 hours.

At the moment it is looking like ElkY is going to get very fit and well-versed in Ukranian, as Katchalov is 5th on the WCOOP leaderboard with one bracelet and 8 cashes.

WCOOP update

We had lots of big action yesterday in the largest online festival of the year, the PokerStars WCOOP. In Event #39, the $700 heads-up, "Ti0373" of Russia defeated "GSinishtaj" of Canada to the first prize of $62,712.

More heads-up action went down in the $10,300 high roller event. 64 players entered, and Oliver "Adonis112" Busquet of Canada walked away the champion, defeating "Helio TYF" of Canada in the final for $224,000. Also making the money we had the aforementioned prop bet kings ElkY and Eugene Katchalov, who each took $40,000 for their efforts.

Three events take place today, we have a $320 PLO rebuy, a $320 No Limit double chance and a $265 Knockout event, with combined guarantees of $1.1 million.
