Lederer's civil settlement

Howard can't believe his luck

Howard Lederer has successfully retained the bulk of his life bankroll after coming to a settlement with the US Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York (SDNY).

A number of civil charges were filed against Howard, including conspiracy to commit money laundering, defrauding players out of $330 million and misrepresenting the safety of player funds.

However, an agreement with the SDNY has saved him from losing $42 million and a string of luxury properties.

According to the settlement, Lederer is now only required to forfeit (amongst other things) his 1965 Shelby Cobra, no less than $440,000 from the sale of his Twin Palms Circle property and $1,250,000 as a civil money laundering charge.

The penalties would certainly represent a significant blow to many; however, the result will no doubt please Lederer but infuriate much of the poker community.

PokerStars' pretty new face

Poker's new Tatiana

PokerStars has recently added a touch of glamour to the online roster recently in the form of Russian pro, Tatiana “Mysters_Y” Barausova.

Although not a familiar face on the poker circuit, the Supernova Elite has made sharp ascent up the online ranks and is now a firm fixture in any games ranging from $3/$6 to $25/$50.

Back in March Tatiana scored two large Sunday Major cashes and with PokerStars' red spade now adorning her avatar she's looking to add some more wins to her MTT CV.

The unveiling of Tatiana wasn't PokerStars only announcement yesterday.

Having enjoyed success with their first Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) earlier this year, they are now preparing for their second incarnation of the event.

Christmas might be fast approaching, but for the world's high rollers the thought of another nosebleed tournament is already weighing on their minds.

Indeed, with the PCA set to kick off on January 5, a total of 30 players have already registered for the $100,000 Super High Roller event.

Of the 30 names listed, only 14 have consented to having their identity revealed ahead of the Caribbean showdown.

As expected, 2011 winner Eugene Katchalov will be anteing up alongside the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Phil Hellmuth and Isaac Haxton.

A host of wealthy businessmen are also expected to join the party, with Bill Perkins being the first keen amateur on the list.

$15 million celebration at Party Poker

Following the welcoming of bwin's pool of players, PartyPoker has now launched a series of tournament improvements.

With more players now looking to cut through the MTT masses and score a healthy bankroll boost, PartyPoker has pledged to offer "more money, more often".

In a recent announcement the online poker room stated that they will now offer $15 million in guaranteed prize money each month.

On top of that they will be offering a guaranteed tournament every 15 minutes, as well as a Sunday Major worth at least $300,000.

To mark the upgrade, PartyPoker will be running a daily $10,000 giveaway every day throughout January.
