PokerStars goes Omaha crazy

More fun with five

PokerStars doesn't like to stand still for too long, which is why they’ve decided to introduce four new games.

The last new game to be introduced was Badugi back in 2008 and now PokerStars is hoping 5 Card Omaha, 5 Card Omaha Hi/Lo, Courchevel and Courchevel Hi/Lo will pique player's interest.

For the uninitiated, 5 Card Omaha is much like its four card cousin except that each player is dealt five hole cards.

Similarly, players also start with five hole cards in a game of Courchevel. However, in this game, the first pre-flop card is dealt face up before the start of the hand.

In the next few days the six-max games will go live in both Pot Limit ($0.10/$0.25 - $200/$400) and Fixed Limit ($1/$2 - $1,000/$2,000) forms.

Yang discusses debts

Yang out of cash

Last week we brought you news of Jerry Yang's dealing with the IRS and earlier this week he came forward to talk about the issue.

Declining other interviews, Yang explained to Fifth Street Radio that a combination of bad advice and banking issues led to his financial difficulties.

His first mistake was that he didn't pay his taxes before donating more than 10% of his $8.25 million winnings to various charities, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Additionally, Yang said that people he trusted were "advising [him] in the wrong way".

Despite paying $900,000 in taxes, Yang failed to stay on top of his finances and has now been forced into a repayment plan with the IRS.

However, the former WSOP is optimistic, stating that "if he can survive a refugee camp and communist invasion" then he can survive this.

High stakes corner

Blom at his best

No matter whether he's winning or losing, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom is never too far away from the action.

Indeed, while the Swede has been on the slide over the last few days, he managed to bounce back in the last 24 hours with a $515,202 win.

Playing a combination of Fixed Limit Omaha Eight and Pot Limit Omaha against Ben "Sauce1234" Sulsky, Blom logged over 2,000 hands and took his 2013 to $4,063,347.

This recent surge of results has seen him reclaim his place at the top of the leaderboard ahead of Alexander Kostritsyn ($3,497,567) and Ben "Bttech86" Tollerene ($1,841,245).

Yesterday's other big winners were "cottonseed1" ($335,102) and Patrik "Finddagrind" Antonius ($236,160).
