PokerStars' ACC deal over

PokerStars' bid to purchase the Atlantic Club Casino suffered another blow this week after a New Jersey court rejected their latest appeal.
The news was made public last night and stated that the New Jersey appellate court had decided to uphold the ruling made by the lower court in May.
After signing a contract back in December 2012, the deal between the two parties broke down after the ACC claimed that PokerStars wouldn't be able to get a casino licence in time.
PokerStars rejected this claim and argued that judge in the first appeal made several errors; moreover, they had already paid $11 million to help the casino.
Unfortunately for PokerStars the arguments they put forward weren't enough to convince the appellate court to reinstate the deal.
As yet there has been no comment from PokerStars.

PKR has followed up its iPhone and iPad applications with a mobile platform for Android users.
Released at the tail end of last month, the new app features cash games with limits ranging from $0.01/$0.02 to $25/$50, as well as Sit & Go tournaments with buy-ins up to $1,000.
In keeping with PKR's unique graphical interface, the new app has been optimised to incorporate various in-game features such as chip tricks and detailed playing environments.
Commenting on the site's latest software release, PKR COO Leon Walters announced that with further updates planned, such as the introduction of multi-table tournaments, they are "now ready for a full scale assault on the mobile market".
EPT's fiesta in Barcelona

The team behind the EPT are pulling out all the stops for their forthcoming leg in Barcelona with a total of 39 events planned over an 11-day period.
Kicking off on August 28 and running through until September 7, the poker fiesta will once again bring together the EPT and the Estrellas Poker Tour for one of Europe's largest events.
Having enjoyed a record-breaking EPT Barcelona last season, the organisers are hoping that this year's Main Event can top the 1,082 entrants who anted-up €5,300 last time out.
Indeed, when things get underway inside Casino De Barcelona an impressive roster of tournaments, including a €50,000 Super High Roller, should be more than enough to quell any post-WSOP blues.

A heads-up deal between Russia's "povarovec" and Bulgaria's "DelPocu" saw the top two prizes divided up in Event #55 last night.
After watching Japan's "gakugeikai" bow out in third place and collect $110, "DelPocu" managed to lock up $171 while "povarovec" banked $166.
With only the gold medal left to play for it was Russia's "povarovec" who eventually earned the win and another Open Series win for his country.

High stakes corner

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom continued his dominance of the high stakes scene last night with another table-topping performance.
After 1,671 hands the Swedish pro (pictured right) topped the daily leaderboard with a $321,234 profit.
That haul was enough to put him ahead of Hac "trex313" Dang ($119,311) and "samrostan" ($84,374).
Finishing top of the loss chart for a second day in a row was "SallyWoo".
Despite playing only 133 hands, the online grinder managed to lose $216,024 and finish above "POKERBLUFFS" (-$207,580) in the daily deficit stakes.
