To the general public he was Dr. Jerry Buss; the owner of the LA Lakers and the man who helped transform the basketball industry.
However, to the poker community he was the WSOP stalwart who gave the likes of Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth a hard time on shows such as High Stakes Poker.
The billionaire businessman sadly died yesterday; however, in the poker world at least, his memory will live on.
After news broke that the 80-year-old Buss had lost his battle with cancer, the WSOP confirmed to PokerListings that they are considering naming an event in his honour.
While there's no timeframe on the project, WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky stated that at the right time they would like to "rename one of their championship events after him".
Regardless of the WSOP's efforts, Buss will be remembered for his cordial nature at the felt, even in the face of losing thousands of dollars.

| Finneran finishes first |
A final table deal and a dominant display by Thomas Finneran brought PokerStars' UKIPT Cork to a close, yesterday.
The Irishman took to the final table second in chips and, after getting the upper hand on Pawel Keller for the chip lead, he didn't look back.
In a frantic race for the title, it took just under six levels for the final eight to be stripped down to just two hopefuls: Finneran and Stephen McGrath.
Having negotiated a deal that skimmed €5,000 from the top prize and added it to the runner-up's bounty, Finneran soon made light work of his opponent.
Indeed, having worked on his heads-up game in the lead up to the tournament, Finneran jabbed at McGrath's stack until the Brit couldn't take anymore. A desperate all-in with 
from McGrath was met with an easy call from Finneran with 
. A succession of eights on the flop and turn gave Finneran the title and €55,440.

Niki "RealAndyBeal" Jedlicka made a return to the top of the high stakes chart yesterday with a $539,096 win.
The Austrian grinder was once an "Isildur1" type figure on the high stakes scene, but after a break from the tables he returned with a less dramatic style than before.
However, a flurry of activity saw Jedlicka climb over Phil Galfond ($217,825) and 
JensKyllonen ($184,048) on his way to the top of yesterday's leaderboard.
The player feeling the full force of Jedlicka's resurgence in the last 24 hours was "VietRussian". After grinding through 2,110 hands, the enigmatic grinder was unable to reverse his fortunes and eventually ended the day as a $565,316 loser.
The quickest $500,000+ loss of the day, however, came from "5tgb6yhn7". Having played just 754 hands, the online grinder left the virtual felt after dropping $505,066.
