Today’s WSOP action produced Germany’s first bracelet winner and yet another title holder from the US.
However, Jan-Peter Jachtmann's and Ronnie Bardah’s wins were overshadowed by the storming performance by WSOP commentator Norman Chad.
The motor mouth presenter has taken part in the WSOP for a number of years and while he’s enjoyed some minor cashes, the best he's managed at the Series so far is a 12th place finish in 2011.
That could all change though as Norman currently has 224,000 chips which is good enough to leave him third out of 22 players in Event #42.
However, when the action resumes tomorrow he won’t have an easy ride with Jeff Lisandro, George Danzer and Brian Devonshire all still in the hunt for a bracelet.
While Norman is battling for his first WSOP podium finish, the poker world’s high rollers will be embarking on their quest for the $50,000 Players Championship title.
The majority of the game’s elite have already confirmed their attendance which means the event should become one of the highlights of this year’s Series.
WPT Continues to Grow
The World Poker Tour is to add two new stops to its roster this season thanks to a continued effort by the organisers to make it the most prominent series of tournaments in the world.
Indeed, not only are the new stops a positive sign that the WPT is thriving, but it signals a new dawn in the company’s global reach with a its first stop in Johannesburg.
The $3,500 WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic will be the first time the tour has dealt cards in the Southern Hemisphere and it is expected to draw a healthy crowd when the action kicks off on October 22nd.
The second new stop sees the WPT make a welcome return to Canada. Having been absent from the country since 2008, the WPT Montreal at the Playground Poker Club will feature Party Poker sponsorship and carry a CAD$3,300 price tag.
Commenting on the new additions to Season XI’s schedule, Steve Heller, CEO of the WPT, said:
“We are thrilled to be adding two exciting new events to our Season XI schedule. As our first event in the Southern Hemisphere, WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic is a ground-breaking step into uncharted territory for World Poker Tour, while WPT Montreal marks a long-awaited return to one of the great poker centres in the world.”

Shak vs. Shak over Shoes
The New York Post revealed two revelations about Beth Shak recently: firstly, that her husband, poker player and finance guru Dan Shak, is suing her over her shoe collection and, secondly, that she is a “poker-pro”.
While it’s hard enough to believe that a wealthy hedge fund boss is suing his ex-wife because she had over 700 pairs of shoes he didn’t know about, it’s even harder to believe that Beth Shak can masquerade under the guise of a poker pro.
According to the article, Beth has found fame “as a World Series of Poker player”. Such an impressive achievement is likely to be the reason why Dan is pushing for an investigation into the $1 million+ shoe collection of Beth.
If Dan can successfully prove that Beth kept her array of shoes a secret during their divorce settlement he could be entitled to at least 35% of their value; a figure that would certainly be enough money to spend on some more high roller events.
