Record SCOOP

This year’s SCOOP has left the records books strewn across the floor in tatters.

First Shaun Deeb [right] went beyond what anyone thought was possible and claimed four SCOOP titles, and now the overall figures have reached new heights.

With registration closing in the final few events yesterday, the statisticians at PokerStars HQ quickly added up the numbers and were pleased to learn that this year was the most successful ever.

In total 526,154 individual entries were collected across the 120 scheduled events. This number crushed the previous record of 416,936, which was set back in 2010.

On top of that, a colossal $65,332,179 in prize money was distributed to those with an equal amount of skill and luck. Up until this year the most that had been given away was $64,230,010.

bwin.party Ready to Fiesta

When Spain’s online poker fiesta kicks off on June 1st, bwin.party will definitely be part of the festivities.

Despite the Spanish authorities doing their best to spoil the party with their tax demands, bwin.party has booked its place at the licence celebrations after agreeing to pay €31 million.

At the start if the month Spain demanded backdated tax from any company wanting an online poker licence.

However, the demands didn't deter bwin.party who agreed to pay a substantial levy. Thanks to this move the company will enter the market with a clean slate and be one of the first to receive a licence.

In a statement released on their site, bwin.party said: “Having taken these steps, we believe we have now fulfilled all requirements and look forward to receiving our licence and entering the Spanish market.”

Put Your Hands Up

Ever wanted to show the world just how unlucky you were when you lost a vital pot?

If so, then you’re in luck as PokerStars has just released a new feature that allows you to share your experiences at the felt with the click of a button.

Thanks to the newly created “Boom Player”, you can upload your hands directly from PokerStars’ game client to various social media sites.

The software is currently in its beta testing phase, but already you can check out some of the biggest hands, sickest bluffs and worst beats from users across the site.

The final numbers still aren’t in – on account of registration closing later today – but yesterday’s facts and figures are.

When Day 2 was brought to a close it was Michael Mizrachi who topped the chip counts with a total of 428,200.

Mizrachi is closely followed by Rinat Bogdanov (381,000) and Guillaume Darcourt (356,600). Also running well is PokerStrategy.com’s JonathanLittle who takes a stack of 231,000 into today’s session.

High Stakes Corner

A good day for Sulsky

Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky had by far the most successful day at the felt yesterday after dominating in two arenas.

Not content with taking down the $21,000 heads-up SCOOP event for $258,300, the high stakes player also bagged $318,579 at the cash tables.

At the other end of the profit spectrum was “Phisherman36”. The anonymous player continued their rollercoaster ride with a loss of $279,401.

Some way behind “Phisherman36”, but still losing a sizeable chunk of change, was “0human0” who dropped $123,366.
