EPT Sanremo Day 1: Sam Trickett Leads Large Field
With both Day 1a and Day 1b of the PokerStars EPT Sanremo in the books, Sam Trickett currently leads the field. Trickett will be joined by over 400 other players on Day 2, all of whom are aiming for the €800,000 first-place prize.

What happened on Day 1?
The top stacks - The biggest stack between both starting days of the EPT Sanremo is Sam Trickett's 178,000 chips. Trickett played on Day 1b; the Day 1a leader, Erion Islamay, will enter Day 2 in 4th overall with 162,300 chips.
Aside from Trickett, the best-known player with a top-ten stack is American pro Justin Bonomo who is currently in 6th overall with 152,200 chips. Former WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker rarely plays major events outside of the WSOP, but he decided to make the trip to Sanremo and will enter Day 2 with an impressive 125,300 chips.
Excellent attendance - Sanremo remains a popular stop on the European Poker Tour this year, drawing 797 players between both starting days. This is similarly successful to last year's event, when Russian Andrey Pateychuk defeated a field of 831 players.
The payout schedule - Over 400 of the 797-player field will return for Day 2 on Sunday. 120 of them will reach the money and receive prizes as follows:
