ElkY Wins $25k High Roller Event

One of the most prestigious events from the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, namely the $25k High Roller tournament, has just finished. The former StarCraft progamer took down the competition and earned $433,500 for his accomplishment.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure feature, amongst others, the High Roller event, with a buy-in of $25,000 that was guaranteed to lure the big names.

The tournament did not lack celebrities, as players like Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Eli Elezra, Dario Minieri, Boris Becker, Ivan Demidov and Dennis Phillips showed up.

As previously stated, the buy-in was set at $25,000. Levels (first one being 50/100) last for one hour each and players start with a stack of 50,000 chips.

However, the two-day event had to come to an end and that happened yesterday, on level 18. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was declared the winner, after eliminating both 3rd and 2nd place by himself.

The hand which eliminated Scott Seiver (3rd place) saw him pushing preflop with T-9, while ElkY called with A-8. Two kings and a 7 on the flop kept ElkY in the lead and the ace on the turn sealed Seiver's fate, which was granted $137,000 for his feat.

20 minutes later, Canadian Will Molson shared the same fate, when ElkY raised preflop to 72,000. Molson went all-in with K-T and was called by ElkY and his A-J. The flop showed Q-6-2, but when the turn brought an ace, ElkY had overpair, while Molson had a gutshot.
Molson needed a jack on the river, but instead he got a six, which spelled the end for the Canadian, who won $228,000 for his second place. ElkY wins the pot and the entire $25k High Roller tournament, receiving $433,500.

"It feels great. Last year's
main event was bigger but this means a lot. The field was so
prestigious and I played very well against good players. This will be a
great memory for me," said the Frenchman after he won the last hand.
