Isabelle Mercier Wins Ante Up For Africa

PokerStars Ante Up For Africa tournament was a great success, just like it has been for the past two years. It's purpose is raising money within the poker community for the humanitarian mission in Darfur, Sudan.

This year's event raised over €250,000, as 40 players contributed their €4,000 entry fee and PokerStars added €100,000 into the prize pool. The field included Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri, Isabelle Mercier, Luca Pagano and many more notable names.

Celebrities such as Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg, U.S. rapper Nelly and footballer Teddy Sheringham were also seen at the tables. Sheringham proved to be a tough opponent, as he made his way to the final tabe, only to lose to Isabelle Mercier in the heads-up match.

The final table had a quite impressive lineup with five Team PokerStars Pros and the toughest player at the table turned out to be Isabelle Mercier. After winning the final table, she commented the whole tournament:

"It was great fun to play, but overall I am very proud to have helped raise so much money."

The tournament featured a stellar field and most importantly, it fulfilled its cause of helping charities that are working hard to bring relief to Darfur. With more and more charity events being organised, the poker community is really making a difference and an example to others.
