PCA Super High Roller Event: Katchalov Wins, Negreanu Becomes All-Time Best

Eugene Katchalov has won the PCA Super High Roller event after defeating Daniel Negreanu in the heads-up final. Despite falling short of the first place, Negreanu's 2nd place finish was good enough to put him on top of the all-time earnings list with nearly $14 million in tournament winnings.

With just seven players returning to the final table of the PokerStars Carribean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller event, everything was set for the winner to be determined among the remaining pros.

Largest stack at the start of the final table was in front of Nick Schulman who had accumulated nearly 3 million in chips. Trailing behind him were Daniel Negreanu (pictured right) and Eugene Katchalov with 2.16 million and 1.47 million in chips respectively.

Katchalov prevails over Negreanu

While the likes of Humberto Brenes were also lurking at the final table, it was Katchalov and Negreanu who eventually entered the heads-up match. It wasn't long into their heads-up clash that Katchalov managed to take a 2-1 advantage over Negreanu.

From that point onwards, Negreanu struggled to hold on to his stack, as he found himself down to 1.9 million against Katchalov's 7.6 million just before he dinner break.

Another hour of play after the dinner concluded the match when Katchalov pushed all in with pocket fours. Negreanu thought for awhile and eventually put his tournament life at stake with pocket fives. Katchalov managed to spike a four on the turn, thus winning the PCA Super High Roller event for $1.5 million.

Negreanu becomes the all-time best

Despite falling short in the heads-up clash against Katchalov, the 2nd place finish was enough to place Negreanu on top of the all-time earning list. With $1 million added to his tournament winnings, he has now earned a total of $13,995,908 in his poker career.

With the Super High Roller event wrapped up, all attention has now been turned to the PCA $10,000 main event which has just kicked off with Day 1A. With over 600 players in it, the main event has attracted top pros such as Phil Ivey, Dario Minieri, Jose barbero, Joe Cada, Pieter de Korver and many more.

All of the above mentioned pros have made it through the day, with Korver accumulating the most chips in the field. Meanwhile, some of the casualties for the day included Shaun Deeb, Amnon Filippi, Vanessa Selbst, Erik Seidel, Dennis Phillips and Theo Jorgensen.
