Poker player's yacht catches fire
A poker player called 'The Lion' saw his luxury yacht catch fire in the middle of the Mediterranean last weekend.
The 88-foot luxury yacht belonging to Spanish poker player Diego Gomez Gonzalez was engulfed in flames last weekend on the Mediterranean.
Nearby boats came to the rescue of the passengers on Saturday evening, just off the island of Formentera.
17 people were on board - five crew and 12 passengers - but all managed to get off the boat safely. One crew member is said to have required medical attention for minor burns.
Not a great deal is known about Gonzalez, who is a professional from Madrid with $500k in live cashes since 2011. Given the yacht costs around £46,000 to charter during the summer, he must make most of his money from cash games or other endeavours. He is known as 'The Lion' because he dressed as a lion during the 2012 EPT Prague Main Event, which he came 5th in for €196,000.
