PokerStars removes Split Hold'em
We round-up some stories you may have missed including legal sports betting in the US and Floyd Mayweather wins $100k at poker.
Split splits
Six weeks after it debuted in the lobby, PokerStars have removed their version of Double Flop Hold'em known as Split Hold'em.
The cash game format plays exactly like No Limit Hold'em but with two boards instead of one, with two split pots like in Omaha Hi/Lo.
The format was a limited time only trial and PokerIndustryPro have already speculated that it might be making way soon for another new trial for a game called 'Showtime'.
Money Mayweather is a Moneymaker
He is already one of the richest athletes in history with a net worth estimated to be close to $1 billion, so this was probably the equivalent of most of us winning a $5 SNG, but Floyd Mayweather won a $100k video poker jackpot last week.
He won $101,250 after getting a Royal Flush playing Ten Play Draw Poker, which he posted as an Instagram story to boast about his score:
The US to legalise sports betting
You know this already if you follow any American poker players on Twitter, but last week the US Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) to give individual States the right to offer legal sports betting.
This potentially means a sports betting industry worth $100 billion in the making and is one of the biggest days in gambling history in the US.
Opinion is divided on what, if any, impact this will have on the prospects of making poker legal in more States, but at a bare minimum the wider gambling industry is about to have a massive amount of investment in it.
Lex breaks viewer record
Finally, a bittersweet moment for Lex Veldhuis as he missed out on a major SCOOP final table but in doing so both broke his own Twitch viewer record and briefly overtook Twitch gaming legend DrDisRespect in the process:
