The Irish Open returns this April

After two cancellations in the last two years one of the most prestigious tournaments in Europe returns to Dublin this year.

One particular European event that was hit hard by the pandemic was the Irish Open in Dublin. It had to cancel in both 2021 and 2020 due to lockdowns in Ireland. 

In both years an online version of the tournament took place at partypoker, but it is one of those bucket list events that has a unique live atmosphere that cannot quite be replicated at the virtual felt. 

However, with the removal of most COVID-19 restrictions in Ireland the series is now set to go ahead again this April. 

Taking place at the CityWest Hotel in Dublin between April 11 and 18, there will be 42 tournaments including 14 Championship Events. This includes the €1,150 Main Event from April 13. 

The biggest event in Irish poker

The last time this event took place in person was in 2019 when 1,807 players created a first prize of €300,000. 

No word as yet on the full satellite schedule but expect them to take place on iPoker and partypoker in the run up to the festival. 

At present face masks are still required in some settings in Ireland and digital COVID passes will be required for international travellers, though that is being reviewed at the end of February.
