The World Series of Tweeting: Colossus moaning
We look back at some of the funniest tweets, and biggest moans, from the first full week of the World Series of Poker.
A colossal moan
Twitter is a place for poker players to moan, and many of the pros this week were unhappy with, amongst other things, the WSOP Colossus Payout Structure:
Someone lost half the Colossus prizepool
— Chris Moorman (@Moorman1) June 1, 2015
Over 22k entries creating a prize pool of over $11Mil and 1st prize is only $630k?? Don't think I've ever seen 5% for 1st #colossus #wsop
— Eugene Katchalov (@EugeneKatchalov) June 1, 2015
Rake 1.4 million 1st place 680k seems fair for wsop #embarrassing
— Mike Matusow (@themouthmatusow) June 1, 2015
Why is colossus first place only 638k? Lol is that a joke? Like 6% of prize pool? Now I'm really glad I skipped it... should be 1 mill easy

Others were unhappy with the time it took to buy in before, or get paid out after, the event:
Service at the cashier and box desks is horrific. Complete shambles. This is only day 1. #WSOP2015 @WSOPTD @wsopSUITd
— Toby Lewis (@810ofclubs) May 27, 2015
Can't breath in this cashier experience
— Greg Merson (@GregMerson) May 27, 2015
WSOP employee: "We're open 24 hours." One of many people in payout line: "How can you keep saying that? You're not open right now!"
— Justin Bonomo (@JustinBonomo) June 1, 2015
In fact, Mickey Petersen is so dismayed by the WSOP, he isn't even going this year:
Decided to skip WSOP. Will miss friends but 3 years of Jack, Seth and WSOPs complete disregard for customers was all I could take, GL all!â¤ï¸
— Mickey Petersen (@mickeydp) May 28, 2015
Then of course there is the classic poker player moan subject....the structures:
@trickyscarfy agree, only French people should be allowed to complain that much ! At least go on strike or something #FrenchSpecialty
— Bertrand Grospellier (@elkypoker) June 4, 2015
But not everyone had a problem a busy first week in Vegas:
Every bathroom break of a 20,000 person tournament I realize I chose the best profession ever. #sorryboys
— Vanessa Selbst (@VanessaSelbst) May 31, 2015
And one player was very happy with the Colossus this morning:
Hello Twitter! #myfirsttweet I won the #Colossus
— Cord Garcia (@colossuscord) June 4, 2015
Over on the other side of town, the Aria $25,000 debacle had everyone fuming too, but Doug Polk saw the funny side:
At the @ARIAPoker room, no wonder we had a problem today with the 25k. pic.twitter.com/7Zp2YVwL7y

How the pros prepare for the WSOP
Proving poker is a sport, Phil Hellmuth shows us how to prepare for the WSOP like an athlete:
Wife and I in bed (still in pjs) watching Harry Potter marathon & eating delicious apple pie and Rocky Road pudding @AriaLV room service
— phil_hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth) June 1, 2015
While Daniel Negreanu's strategy this year appears to be tilting his table with smelly feet:
Kickin' it. @RealKidPoker came straight from playing soccer game to late reg $1,500 Razz. True story. pic.twitter.com/X4ANy0bw6n
— Chad Allan Holloway (@ChadAHolloway) June 2, 2015
Liv and Igor are getting hints from one of the biggest business brains in the world:
Having an absurd amount of fun on #Neckerisland ziplining, wakeboarding, playing pokers. Thanks @richardbranson 😀 pic.twitter.com/DyJqV6o39Z

Maybe they should all take a leaf out of actor James Woods' strategy guide:
This I'm proud of... pic.twitter.com/ojgDdrRb0w
— James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) June 2, 2015
Finally, spare a thought for Jonathan Duhamel, the second he loses his sponsor, nobody knows who he is:
$1500 PLH Day 2, dealer ask for my ID...well that's akward @WSOP pic.twitter.com/hgBg37W9ky
