WSOP Daily: Phil Hellmuth Misses 12th Bracelet Once Again
The $50,000 Poker Player's Championship just came to an end and Phil Hellmuth has once again missed his 12 bracelet. He lost to Brian Rast heads-up, pocketing a cash prize of $1,063,034.

Despite the recent issues regarding poker in the US, the attendance at the World Series was not exactly affected. Event #55, the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship actually saw an increase in attendance from last year's 116 to 128.
As expected, the event brought together lots of big names, including the defending champion Michael Mizrachi, Doyle Brunson, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu and Erik Seidel.
However, it was the "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth, who would steal the spotlight. After four days of action, Hellmuth reached the final table with the 5th largest stack (2,245,000), while the chip leader had more than double (5,215,000).
Hellmuth worked his way up and eventually got to heads-up, where he had a slight chip lead over his opponent, Brian Rast (10,015,000 vs 9,185,000).
At one point Rast was down to just about 2 million chips, but he managed to get back in the game after two successful double-ups where Hellmuth's flush draws didn't get there. Soon after, Rast actually got the lead and sealed the deal in yet another missed draw.
In the last hand, the blinds were 60,000/120,000 and Hellmuth had 8,745,000 to Rast's 10,455,000. Hellmuth raised to 400,000 from the button and Rast called to see a flop of 
. Rast bet 500,000 and Hellmuth went all in.
Rast made the call and showed his hand: 
, for the nut straight. Hellmuth was again chasing a flush draw with his 
but the turn and river brought the 
and 
respectively, sending the Poker Brat home in second place for a prize of $1,063,034. See the full results below.
This marks the third time Hellmuth makes it to heads-up but doesn't get the bracelet, as he also finished 2nd in Events #16 and #33. He has one last chance at a bracelet with the $10,000 Main Event, which is set to start in just a few hours.
