WSOP Event #16: Jeff Lisandro Wins His Second Bracelet

The final play day of the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event featured Jeff
Lisandro taking his seat at the final table as the chip leader. He was
aiming for the bracelet, but he had to overcome obstacles such as John
Juanda to get it.

Mitch Schock was the first one to hit the rail in 8th place followed by
Daniel Studer in 7th. Studer began the day with the shortest stack at
the table, but he also showed great patience and picked his hands
wisely, even when he was dangerously low on chips.

Even though Juanda managed to take over the lead early on, it didn't
take long for Jeff Lisandro to fight back. First, he knocked out Eric
Pardey in 6th place and then won a hand against which boosted his stack
up to 670,000 while Juanda was down to 170,000. Juanda gave it another
try, but the results were the same - one clash more between them and
one more chunk of Juanda's stack gone. Juanda tried to mount a
comeback, but it didn't work well. He ran into Steven Stencil's full
house and he was out in 5th place.

Meanwhile, Jeff Lisandro (pictured right) was still busy grabbing the chips and extending his
lead. His next victim was Nick Frangos. Jeff Lisandro held ()()() while Frangos held ()()().
Frangos bet out on third street, Lisandro raised and Frangos called.

Lisandro caught an ace on fourth street and led out, Frangos raised
all-in and Lisandro called. Lisandro made two pair sevens and threes,
thus besting Frangos' fives and fours. With this pot lost, it was all
over for Frangos and he was out in 4th place.

Steven Stencil soon hit the rail in 3rd place and it was time for a heads-up match between two Stud champions - Rod Pardey has won two Seven Card Stud bracelets (in 1991 and 1994), while Jeff Lisandro won his bracelet in the $2,000 Seven Card Stud event in 2007.

The heads-up play offered no surprises, Lisandro crushed Pardey who never really had a chance to put up a serious fight. In their last hand, Lisandro made an ace-high flush which sent Pardey to the rail in 2nd place. Jeff Lisandro has thus taken his second WSOP bracelet, along with $124,959 in prize money.
