WSOP Main Event Day 1C and 1D on ESPN
This weeks 2 hours saw Phil Hellmuth make his annual grand Main Event entrance. Daniel Negreanu struggled with his health, while Jeff Madsen showed off his rapping skills.
In the second weekly broadcast of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, ESPN showed footage taken from Day 1C and 1D. Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, 2008 WSOP Player of the Year Erick Lindgren and defending champion Peter Eastgate were the four players featured this week.
Other top pros and celebrities who made an appearance in the 2 hour broadcast included Jeff Madsen, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Joe Hachem, Annie Duke, Phil Ivey, Ray Romano, Dennis Phillips and Ivan Demidov.
Hellmuth makes his grand entrance
As usual, Phil Hellmuth once again stole the show with his antics on and off the felt. Carrying on his yearly ritual of grand Main Event entrances, Hellmuth came dressed as Caesar this year. He was escorted into the hall by a procession of models and drums. "All Hail Emperor Lunatic", quipped presenter Norman Chad.
Despite having to endure a few beats, Hellmuth (pictured left) was actually feeling charitable and took up Mark Davis' offer for $20 to see Davis' hole cards. On top of that, Phil gave Davis another $140 to buy drinks for his friends. Pushing his luck, Davis asked cheekily asked if Hellmuth would like to contribute to his brother's baby fund. Unfortunately for Davis, all he got was a cold stare.
On the main feature table, Daniel Negreanu was not having such a good day after picking up the flu bug. Daniel's condition worsened as the day progressed and he was clearly not playing his best game. He had to resort to calling a clock on himself after finding it hard to make a decision due do his throbbing head.

In the second hour, Erick Lindgren (pictured right) who has had a miserable 2009 WSOP was seated at the feature table. Thanks to their less than stellar performances this year, Lindgren and Negreanu stand to lose more than a million dollars after they had teamed up to take action from players for the pair that will score more WSOP Player of the Year points.
2006 WSOP Player of the Year Jeff Madsen was also shown playing in one of the outer tables. Spotting a pair of pink oversized sunglasses, Madsen also showed off his rapping "skills" in a short segment featuring him and his mates. "Am I a better poker player or a rapper? I'm probably a better poker player but hopefully soon they'll be on the same level," said Madsen.
