Hej !

First of all, sorry for writing in English.

I'm writing in the NL forum to know if there's any kind of poker regulation coming from the government in the next months/years. I'm planning to move to UK or NL next year and I hope I can continue my bad grinding :f_grin:

BTW, can you tell me too if it's really a problem if I go to NL and I want to work w/o knowing any of Dutch language? I already speak English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Hope it's not a problemt cause learning a sixth language now...

ty ! :)

There are plans for regulation of the Dutch poker market, but it will take some time before all is implemented.

As for working in the Netherlands it is, depending on the kind of work, not really a problem not speaking Dutch.

UK is a much better choice. The Netherlands is a horrible marxist state that taxes poker winnings for 30%.

Dutch government takes now 30% of poker winnings and there's not still a regulation?? OMFG ... in Spain regulation starts on 2012 with a 25% taxes over poker winnings ...

I'm not a pro at all, about 1k$ winnings per month and I'm more about working in an office 35 h per week rather than grinding

Then just do like most non-pros in NL -> don't say anything and you won't get taxed .

Ok so it's about informing or not to the tax office, cause in Spain poker activities will be monitored 24/7

Most big winning poker players were found by the tax office itself and had to pay fines.

Yes, you have to declare your pokerwinnigs yourself. And like Marple said, if they find you and haven't declared anything you'll get fined.

Edit: Typo.

let's just say if it's under $10k you won't get fined,

and also, you can put it on prepaid credit cards these days, problem, belastingdienst?

I you want to have a 'normal' job, you should be able to speak dutch. I can't see how this would work otherwise...

I dont really get why you would move to the Netherlands, not speaking the language and not having a job there.
Ow and playing poker in the Nederlands is totally impossible, unless you dont pay taxes. But that is called fraude.

My wife will do a Ms in NL, thats why we're moving there.
Btw, I don't pretend to fraud or whatsoever, only if I can meet my loved fishes also playing there.

And... what is a normal job?

I know plenty of people especially living in the Randstad (Rotterdam, Den Haag, Amsterdam, Utrecht area) who cannot speak a word Dutch and have a normal job (not specialist).

But I agree with everything else Caroline says :)

Hey, i’d like to start playing online poker soon and your post caught my attention. Is it true that if you use a prepaid credit card, the tax department knows nothing about it?
