Over $1 million In Promotion Bonuses In 2008
The December Top 20 and 250 promotions are over, with Phisherman and VivaLT taking the wins. They earned $1,000 and $10,000 respectively for their accomplishments. Overall, more than $1 million were given as promotion bonuses to our players.
The PokerStrategy.com December Top 20 promotion is now finished, with 
Phisherman claiming the first place prize of $1,000. His 36,049 points were also enough to place 39th in the overall months rankings, which is good for another $500 in prize money.
Two of our English community players have successfully placed themselves in the Top 100 promotion for December, earning a combined $700 extra in cash. trebory59, Wilenija, Cakara and yummyt also managed to get spots within the overal Top 250 monthly promotion.
Phisherman was the favourite to win the Christmas promotion, as he was leading the rankings ever since the beginning. TwiceT was always in the top, and now we see him finishing the month of December as runner-up, having 24,629 points and earning $600. He was ranked 100 overall, which means an extra $200 will go his way.
The third place belongs to trebory59, who managed to get 21,571 after barely playing in the first two weeks. Would he have done so, the rankings might have looked differently now. Nevertheless, his third place earned him $400.
The second part of the rankings has 14 players which were awarded $100 each for their feat. Compared to last week's standings, 
TribunCaesar dropped two spots down to the 8th place, having 14,090 points. TerrorBlade didn't manage to keep his rank 8 from the previous week, as his 11,456 points forced him to settle for the 9th place.
Dippy19 dropped 4 places in the meantime, which is why he is ranked 13th at the end of December. Timor83 was not in top 20 until now, but he managed to grab 7,984 this month and he placed 19th.
A few weeks ago, our weekly vote was focused on the December promotion. We asked you then to predict who will be top 3 and also to try and guess how many points the first place finisher will have.
Since the results are in, we have two winners: Cirith and 
Alexd10. They got the closest estimations, as they guessed the first place will have 30,000 and 36,234

Since 2008 is over, we can now look back and check the medal distribution. DuneBuggy managed to place first 4 times and he was on second place twice, while RiF, the runner-up, was first for 3 months, second for one month and third for two months. Here are the top 20 finishers of 2008:
